It is necessary to declare, and 'non-abandonment' means not using this term, that is, it is not something to be abandoned, and it is never omitted, but is the virtue of the two accumulations to be accepted. Because of that very non-abandonment, that very non-abandonment is emptiness, and for that reason, it is declared to be non-abandonment emptiness. The twelfth is: The nature of conditioned phenomena, etc., Why the disciples, self-enlightened ones, Buddhas, and Thus-gone ones did not create it, Therefore, the nature of conditioned phenomena, etc., Is declared to be self-nature, Because of that, that emptiness Is self-nature emptiness. The nature of phenomena such as conditioned and unconditioned, is because the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Tathagatas did not create it with knowledge and vision. Whether they appear or not (344n), the nature of all phenomena is originally the emptiness of emptiness. Because it was not created, the emptiness of the nature of conditioned phenomena, etc., is declared to be self-nature, that is, naming non-self-nature as self-nature. If so, in the terminology of the Madhyamaka scriptures, the nature of fire, heat, etc., should also be called self-nature, because it was not created by the noble ones, etc. If you think so, there is no prohibition to say that for the unexamined one. However, even if heat, etc., were not created by the noble ones, it is not reasonable to consider it as self-nature according to the reasoning of other fame, because self-nature must be uncreated and independent, so heat, etc., are created by ignorance, etc. Is emptiness created by the noble ones? There is a doubt that the noble ones did not realize it in childhood, but the noble ones saw it directly. That is because the noble ones did not create it, so it is not created, it is uncreated, it is the self-nature that does not depend on others, so it is only declared that it is not the self-nature of creation, and such a declaration does not mean that such a self-nature is established as the uncreated self-nature, nor is it shown as the nature and essence of uncreatedness, therefore, that very self-nature, that self-nature is emptiness, that is self-nature emptiness. The Jonangpas believe that the nature of all phenomena is the ultimate truth, the true, constant, stable self-nature, and the essence itself will not be empty.

All phenomena are well negated by emptiness of self-nature in the manner of emptiness of self-nature. Similarly, the great Tsongkhapa also well negated the emptiness of self-nature, which is the emptiness of inherent existence of forms and so on. If there exists a phenomenon that is not in the knowable, then the emptiness of non-self-nature that negates it, is empty by itself. This is because it is considered empty because the object to be negated by the sign does not exist in the knowable. Therefore, in the Mother Sutra and so on, emptiness is said to be the self-nature and essence of forms and so on, and is dependently arisen. And, the emptiness of self-nature is said to be emptiness, both of which are negated. If forms and so on are not empty by their own essence, then all phenomena will not become emptiness of self-nature, but will become endowed with self-nature. If that is the case, then emptiness will not become the emptiness of self-nature of forms and so on. If that is the case, even if it becomes endowed with self-nature, there is no fault, because it is the ultimate self-nature. If one thinks like that, if the Bhagavan taught emptiness as an antidote to seeing all phenomena as non-empty and substantial, then emptiness is not empty by its own essence, but exists as an established self-nature. If one looks at it that way, what is greater than clinging to substantiality? It is like if water is needed to extinguish fire, if the water itself burns, then there is no way to find a way to extinguish the fire. Self-nature is nirvana, that is, the meaning of the statement "Nirvana is the only truth" is that the conventional truth is not true by its own nature, but is said to be true, which means that truth cannot be established at all in the conventional truth. But the view that self-nature nirvana itself is true in that and that, is absolutely not established in this context of explaining the highest view of the Consequentialist. However, in Tibet, some people say that in the two truths, the conventional truth is not true even in name, and the ultimate truth is true even in name. In particular, Zilongpa the Great, even in the view of the Consequentialist, admits that the ultimate self-nature is established as true, which is an unsurpassed slander against the Consequentialist. If he thinks that way, then when teaching the emptiness of self-nature, he does not distinguish between the two ways of being empty and not empty by it, but empties by self-nature itself.
