It is reasonable to explain that destruction is also a thing. But this is because (Chandrakirti) specifically pointed out and solemnly forbade this. As it is said: If it is fully understood that things that have already been born are born again, then the birth of sprouts and the like will not be found, and the seed will be completely born to the end of existence. Therefore, the teacher Chandrakirti believes that without observation, sprouts will not arise from things that have been destroyed or not destroyed. Even so, it is only said that it arises as it is said in the world. (202a) In addition, if (other sects) through observation, believe that the destroyed past, the undestroyed future, and the destroying present are all merely existing as things, then how can there be birth? When explaining the fifteen emptinesses, the commentary says: Here, the past and the future do not exist because they have been destroyed and have not yet been born, and the present does not exist because it does not abide. The so-called "unattainable" refers to that which is unattainable in the three times. You have such respect and partiality for the teacher Chandrakirti, but you still refute and reverse the teacher Chandrakirti in various ways, which should be carefully considered. Here it is said: The glory of the accomplishment of the auspicious Vajrayana, the place where the supreme Buddha attained Nirvana, repeatedly remembering the kindness and prostrating, fully expounding the unerring good words. So it is said. The second is: From seeing the object of focus in a dream, even a fool will develop attachment when he wakes up. Similarly, from karma that has ceased and has no self-nature, there will also be a result. If, from the ultimate truth, karma has no self-nature, and from the conventional truth, karma has ceased, neither of which can produce a result, then why mention both? The meaning of what has been said is explained by way of example: From karma that has ceased and has been around for a long time, and has no self-nature, there will also be a result of maturation. For example, seeing the object of focus in a dream, such as desired things, and enjoying desires with a beautiful woman, when waking up, the woman in the dream does not exist by nature and has already ceased, but some fools will still develop desire for her.

It is the same here as it is there. The detailed meaning of this example is explained in the Sutra of Transition, as written in the self-commentary. Third, one must avoid being too extreme, and even in emptiness, the results of actions are each definite and inconceivable. The first is: How the object is not the same as existence, but those with blurred vision see the appearance of hair streaks, and do not see the appearance of other things. Likewise, know that ripening does not occur again from ripening. Because actions are not born of their own nature, they have no end or cessation. If it is thought that fruition will occur, then just as actions that have not produced fruition, actions that have already produced fruition will also produce results, because they have not ceased? Just as the object, hair streaks, and rabbit horns, etc., are all the same in that they are not existent, but those with eyes blurred by dimness see the appearance of hair streaks, etc., in the sky, but do not see the appearance of other things such as donkey horns and barren women's sons, likewise, actions that have already produced fruition and those that have not are the same in that they have not ceased and have no inherent nature. However, know that just as the previous actions that have already produced results will not ripen fruit again from actions that have already ripened, just like the previous example. This is not an affirmation of one's own system, but merely a refutation of wrong views from the perspective of others' acceptance, because it is believed that rabbit horns and barren women's sons, etc., do not exist. The Lankavatara Sutra says: "Space, rabbit horns, and also the sons of barren women, like words spoken as non-existent, so is the conception of things." Is it not said that these do not exist? There, too, it is only the (203a) negation of the conception of existence, not the conception of non-existence, because if existence itself is not established, then non-existence is also unreasonable. The second is: Therefore, the fruition of non-virtuous black actions, the fruition of virtue itself is seen from virtue, those with minds free from virtue and non-virtue will be liberated, and also the contemplation of actions and results is negated. This example not only shows that the fruition of actions is not uncertain, but also that it is not individually certain, because even though hair streaks, etc., have no inherent nature, certainty is seen. Although virtuous and non-virtuous actions have no inherent nature, the fruition is unpleasant.
