And the dharmas are the aspect of no aspiration. Those three objects are called worldly samadhi, such as emptiness samadhi. The transcendental wisdom that focuses on these, with the aspect of two selflessnesses, is called the gate of liberation, such as emptiness. The fourth is: The characteristics of liberation are what liberate. The characteristic of the eight liberations is that it liberates from the obscuration of absorption, therefore it has the characteristic of liberating. The eight are: A form possessor viewing forms is the first liberation. Internally perceiving no form, viewing external forms is the second. The liberation of ugliness, which is the nature of the fourth dhyana (347a), is the third. The four formless liberations, and the liberation of cessation of perception and feeling. The first is: In order to be liberated from the obscuration of transformation, relying on the actual basis of dhyana, the yogi establishes the perception of form in himself. Towards external forms, he cultivates various kinds of liking and disliking, large and small, which is quiescence and insight. The second is: The other is the same as before, the difference is that the yogi himself destroys the perception of form. The third is: In order to be liberated from the obscuration of desire and non-desire for the transformation of beautiful and ugly forms, relying on the fourth dhyana, the yogi destroys the perception of form in himself, and focuses on the three intermediate forms of beautiful, ugly, and neutral. He cultivates the thought of mutual dependence on these, as well as the thought of following, and finally cultivates quiescence and insight by making the same taste of ugliness. The four formless liberations are for the purpose of liberating from the obscuration of tasting the taste of their respective absorptions. Among them, the liberation of the sphere of infinite space is that during the practice, one intends that space is infinite, and during the actual practice, the quiescence and insight that fully possess clarity liberate from the obscuration of tasting the taste of one's own absorption. Similarly, infinite consciousness, nothingness, neither perception nor non-perception.

Also, one should understand them as appropriate. Eighth, in order to be liberated from the obscuration of obstructing consciousness and feeling, one relies on the mind of the peak of existence, thereby obstructing all coarse feelings and consciousness. The second part includes powers, fearlessness, individual correct knowledge, great love, etc., as well as the Buddha's unshared dharmas, and the six characteristics of omniscience. The first is: The powers are completely and thoroughly, / Said to be the nature of determination. / The ten powers that will be explained are said to be completely and thoroughly the nature of determination, because they are completely and thoroughly determined, so there is no obstruction. The second is: The fearlessness of protection is, / The essence of being very stable. / The fearlessness of protection is that I have vowed to have fully awakened to all dharmas, and no one refutes that this dharma has not been awakened, so there is fearlessness for the dharma of realizing self-interest; I have vowed to have exhausted all defilements, and no one refutes that this form of defilement has not been exhausted, so there is fearlessness for the dharma of abandoning self-interest; I have declared to the Shravakas that those are the dharmas of obstruction, and even if they are practiced, they will not become obstructions, and no one refutes, so there is fearlessness for teaching the dharma of obstructing others' interests; I have declared that those are the paths that will surely liberate from suffering, and even if they are practiced, they will not surely liberate from suffering, and no one refutes, therefore the fearlessness of teaching the path of surely liberating others' interests is the essence of being very stable, because no one can change it. The third is: Individual correct knowledge is, / The characteristic of immeasurable confidence, etc. / The four individual correct knowledges that will be explained (348a) are confidence, etc., which are the characteristics of being immeasurable or non-existent for anything, because there is no attachment or obstruction to the four objects. The fourth is: Bringing benefit to beings, / Is called great love. / Completely protecting those who suffer, / Is great compassion, joy is, / The characteristic of great joy, equanimity is, / Called the characteristic of being unmixed. / The characteristic of bringing temporary and ultimate benefit to beings is the Buddha's great love.
