That which is devoid of entity during the period of action is the emptiness of its own nature. Secondly, there are two explanations of the nature of defilement and purification. First, there are three self-natures of aggregates, elements, sources, and dependent origination. The first is: Form is characterized by being susceptible to change. Feeling is characterized by experiencing. Perception is holding onto characteristics. Formation is manifestly forming. Separately knowing objects is the nature of consciousness. Aggregates are the nature of suffering. The nature of the elements is like a poisonous snake. Form: Because form-possessors can cause change when they come into contact with each other internally, it is the nature of being susceptible to form. Feeling is the nature of experiencing the ripening of virtue and vice, coolness, heat, etc. Perception is holding onto the unique characteristics of phenomena. Formation is the mind manifestly forming and moving towards objects. Separately knowing objects such as form is the nature of consciousness. The aggregates of appropriation are the nature of any of the three sufferings. The nature of the elements is regarded as the nature of a poisonous snake in a way that is consistent with the Dharma. The second is: The Buddha said that the sources are the doors of birth. The twelve sources (༣༤༦ན) The Buddha said that they are the doors of the arising and birth of suffering. The third is: Whatever is dependent origination is the nature of aggregation. Whatever is dependent origination is the nature of aggregation, because it arises from the accumulation of causes and conditions. Secondly, there are two self-natures of the path and the fruit. First, there are four explanations of the nature of the perfections, meditation, etc., the factors of enlightenment, the three doors of liberation, and the eight liberations. The first is: Giving is the perfection of giving. Discipline is the nature of being without sorrow. Patience is the nature of being without anger. Diligence is the nature of being without fault. Meditation is characterized by gathering. Wisdom is the nature of being without attachment. These are said to be the natures of the six perfections. Meditations and immeasurables, and thus

Furthermore, whatever is formless is said to be of an unwavering nature by the one who truly knows it. Generosity is giving away one's own body, possessions, etc., and is the perfection of generosity. Discipline is abandoning harm and benefiting others, thus having the nature of being without affliction. Patience is having the nature of being without anger towards those who harm. Diligence is having the nature of completely upholding virtue, thus being of a faultless nature. Meditation is having the nature of gathering all virtuous qualities. Wisdom is having the nature of not being attached to anything, in order to proceed to Nirvana. Therefore, these are said to be the respective natures of the six perfections. The four meditations and the four immeasurables, as well as the other four formless absorptions, are said by the Buddha, the one who truly knows, to be of an unwavering, angerless nature, because they are attained by being free from desire for desire and abandoning anger. The second is: The thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are the nature of definitely emerging. The thirty-seven factors conducive to enlightenment are the cause of escaping samsara, thus having the nature of being able to definitely emerge into liberation. The third is: The nature of emptiness is complete quietude because there is no object of focus. Signlessness is the nature of peace. The nature of the third is without suffering and without ignorance. The nature of the door to liberation, emptiness, is the nature of complete quietude because there is no object of focus, and because it is close to being free from the defilement of conceptualization. The nature of the door to liberation, signlessness, is the nature of peace by way of not focusing on signs. The nature of the third door to liberation, wishlessness, is the nature of being without suffering and without ignorance, because when one truly observes those who are of the nature of suffering of formation, and when one observes the nature of formation with wisdom, then one does not wish for it. Among them, the two kinds of selflessness are the nature of emptiness. Because the signs of elaboration such as form are close to pacification, Nirvana is the nature of signlessness. The outflows gathered by the two, suffering and origin.
