Like a lotus in the sky, etc. 'Destruction' is named thus here, The meaning of 'not having become a thing' Is to make this understood, Not desiring any proof. If someone is called a donkey, When only the name is made thus, All the qualities of a donkey Will not be obtained here. The thing called 'destruction' The thing called 'destruction of a thing' Even when proving this thing, Since there is no birth even a little, How can this be reversed? The nature of a destructive thing, How can it be the nature of a thing, Because it is separated, it is desired as non-existence, It is not because it is the nature of a thing. The nature of reversal in this, Is not spoken of through the door of proof (201a). The follower of a thing, Is prevented from the moment after. Therefore, there is no establishment of the nature of this distinction. Therefore, the thought of permanence in this has no place. As it is said, some non-Buddhists say that when an impermanent destructive thing is destroyed, it becomes a permanent thing. Having refuted this extensively, how can one follow such evil thoughts as the venerable Manjushri and the great Tsongkhapa? Because you are the great upholders of Buddhism. Also, Tsongkhapa, how is it that some of your own sects say that the three times are substantially real, as it is said? From the Treasury of Knowledge: 'One arises from the past.' Thus, it is not reasonable to say that the past and future, destruction and non-birth, can perform functions. From the Great Treatise on Valid Cognition: In the twenty-sixth chapter on the examination of the three times, in its difficult explanation: Furthermore, are these past and future able to perform functions, or are they unable to? There are two kinds of differences. If they are able to, then if there is ability at that time, it will become the present, like the present that has not become a basis for dispute. The combination is that those who are able to perform functions are like this, like the present that has not become a basis for dispute. The past and so on are also able to perform functions. To say this is a fallacy of the reason of nature. This is not uncertain, for if it is separate from the present, then destruction and non-birth will become separated from all abilities, like a lotus in the (201b) sky.

The connection is that those that have not occurred now will not become effective in any case, like a lotus in the sky. The past and so on are also not present. This is called not observing the universal. As it is said, those previous teachers who possessed the eye of Dharma have greatly prevented those bad customs, especially like the bad custom of claiming things as real by one's own school (Svatantrika), how can it be said to be a characteristic of Madhyamaka-Prasaṅgika? Do you not admit the substance of the past? Even if you say it in words, since you have admitted that the object of the past has a function, in reality, it seems like the desire of your own school (Svatantrika) to speak of things as real. In particular, is destruction a real thing, a characteristic of Chandrakirti, or is it a special dharma? This is just imposing a burden on the teacher against his will. If past things and destruction were real, then the teacher should have explained that the destruction of past things that have already arisen is also real. However, he specifically and firmly prevented this. As it is said: If what has already arisen is fully understood to arise again, then the arising of sprouts and so on will not be found here, and the seed will thoroughly arise to the end of existence. Therefore, the teacher Chandrakirti said that without analysis, a sprout does not arise from anything that is destroyed or not destroyed, and even so, it arises as it is known in the world. If analyzed by the views of others, then the destroyed past, the undestroyed future, and the destroying present, even if only preventing these three from existing as real, let alone arising? When explaining the fifteen emptinesses, the commentary says: Here, the past and the future are non-existent because they are destroyed and not yet born, and the present is non-existent because it does not abide. What is called non-observation is that which cannot be observed in the three times. You have so much respect and partiality for the teacher Chandrakirti, but you still slander and reverse the arrangements of the teacher Chandrakirti in various ways, which should be considered. Here it is said, glorious
