Being distracted by craving and the like, and not honestly abiding in thought and action, is called hypocrisy; using methods to deceive others is called deceit. Like this, using the thirteen worldly dharmas to protect oneself and being able to make others ignorant, is like swallowing poisonous food, so it should be completely abandoned. Root verse: In samsara, actions of black and white, the two results of karma. Even from a small seed, the form of the fruit. To create it in a large way, the arrogant one is capable. Like the four wheel-turning kings from seven beans. Some trees have seeds as small as mustard seeds. When the Ashoka tree bears fruit, each branch grows to the size of a yojana. The image of virtue and vice increases, and no analogy can compare to it. This means that, like this, the creator of the ups and downs in samsara, there is nothing other than the two results of black and white karma. Even from a small seed of virtue and vice, the form of the fruit of happiness and suffering can be created in a large way. In a previous life, the one called "Arrogant One," in his previous life as a child, scattered a handful of beans on the body of Buddha Vipashyin, four beans fell into the begging bowl, and two fell on his chest, so he was reborn as a golden wheel-turning king. Gradually, he became one of the four great kings, the king of the thirty-three gods, and obtained the power to sit on the same seat as Indra. Some trees have seeds as small as mustard seeds, but their growth is very strong. The fruit of the Ashoka tree has a stronger growth force than other trees. In about a year, each branch can grow to about a yojana, but even so, it cannot compare to the power of the image of virtue and vice to increase. Shariputra in the past offered cloth and thread to a Pratyekabuddha, so he obtained great wisdom and became the best of the wise, and so on. In short, if one scatters a flower into the sky with reverence to offer to the Buddha, the Buddha said that the result will not be wasted. The result of non-virtue will also definitely ripen, so it is crucial not to confuse the acceptance and rejection of virtue and vice. Root verse: Whatever has no maker, is not self-nature. Stained by black and white dharmas, the intention of habituation. Karma and its result, become powerful. If the two are not possessed, the ability is weak. This means that, like this, the weight of virtuous and non-virtuous karma is the actual virtuous and non-virtuous

Even if the action performed is small, at the time of its performance, one remembers virtuous and non-virtuous actions with the mind, and engages in them diligently with mental effort. Whether the action performed is virtuous or non-virtuous, one rejoices in virtue afterwards and generates remorse for non-virtue, then the power of virtue will increase and the power of non-virtue will decrease. Therefore, for anyone, the happiness and suffering of future lives do not arise without cause, but are caused by the pure and impure intentions stained by virtuous and non-virtuous actions, thus causing virtuous and non-virtuous actions and their results to produce great power. As explained above, even if one actually performs virtuous or non-virtuous actions, if one does not have the preparatory and concluding actions, the power will be small. In general, the essence of all inner Buddhist teachings is the correct view, which is to be certain that there is a future life, but some people do not want to believe in a future life and do not believe in cause and effect, so this wrong view causes the ripening result to be reversed, like some non-Buddhists. For example, in the past, a monk begged for food from a householder, and the householder said that if he was an Arhat, he would offer food, but if not, he would not give it. The monk said that he was not an Arhat and left. The householder thought that he was so content and must be an Arhat, so he invited him to teach the Dharma, and as a result, the householder obtained the merit of offering to an Arhat. This shows that the motivating force of good and bad intentions determines the magnitude of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. Root verse: If the root is medicine, the sprout is also medicine. If the root is poison, what need is there to mention the sprout? From the impetus of virtuous and non-virtuous thoughts, the image of virtue and non-virtue, large or small, does not follow. This means that, for example, if the seed is planted with medicine, then its root, sprout, leaves, and fruit are all medicine; if the root is poison, then the sprout, etc., are poison, which goes without saying, so what need is there to say more? It is explained that whether the action is virtuous or non-virtuous, the magnitude of virtuous and non-virtuous actions depends entirely on whether the intention is virtuous or non-virtuous, and has nothing to do with the size of the image of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. For example, in the past, on a road, a statue of the Buddha was being rained on and was about to collapse, and one person covered the statue with his shoelace to protect it from the rain, while another person removed the shoelace because he was worried about disrespecting the statue, and as a result, both of them obtained kingship. Root verse: This
