It is not like holding a wrong view, thinking that the mind is annihilated like a lamp that has gone out, or that one arrives at a high or low place by chance. Rather, like the infallible dependent arising, by whatever rope of higher or lower realms one is bound, it is only by practicing virtue and being accustomed to sin in this life that one draws near to the next rebirth. Similarly, whatever good or bad deeds are done in this life, happiness and suffering will appear in the next life, just as with the crops of farmers, etc., from the goodness or badness, sweetness or bitterness of the seeds, the subsequent result is clear. Furthermore, in other lives, having become familiar and accustomed to whatever good or bad deeds, from virtuous deeds, one now enjoys happiness and prosperity, striving for white deeds. Having been accustomed to non-virtuous deeds in the past, one is now impoverished and miserable, with incomplete faculties, etc., experiencing the suffering of sinful results, and still engaging in many sinful deeds that are the cause of suffering, thus falling from lower to lower.

Moreover, whatever is tangible, like severing separation, whatever good or bad deeds are done in this life, accompany like body and shadow, and when the time comes to act, they gather together like one's own shadow, even impure beings gather in the six realms of samsara, and when the time comes to take rebirth, the fruits of good and evil will become even more apparent. Root verse: Non-virtuous deeds are like the fire of the horse-faced one, they can also dry up the waves of the heavenly ocean, the analogy and meaning of destroying the boat of omniscience, explained by the Hundred Deeds Sutra and the Great Play. The meaning is: Non-virtuous deeds are those that belong to the category of the ten non-virtuous actions, and the analogy of its fault is: the outer great ocean, although extremely vast and difficult to destroy, just as the fire of the horse-headed kalpa can dry it up, the power of non-virtuous deeds can diminish the happiness of the noble heavenly realms like the waves of the great ocean, not only that, but also destroy the body like a boat sailing to the land of omniscience, the All-Knowing One also explained these two analogies and meanings in the Hundred Deeds Sutra and the Great Play Sutra and other scriptures. For example, the son of Maudgalyayana was killed by heretics, the venerable Curpaka died of starvation due to lack of food and drink, and the Bhikshuni Utpalavarna was killed by Sundari. Since non-virtuous deeds can hinder rebirth in the heavenly realms, then it goes without saying that they can hinder the attainment of the fruits of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Root verse: Hell is extremely tolerant of the suffering of evil destinies, but the army of the ten virtues is strong, the land of the heroes, no camp of the battle flag of evil paths has been set up, but all those who break their vows are under your control. Some have precepts, some have life and death, some have asceticism, some have Dharma and wealth, some have shame, some have conscience, etc., there are very many things that are abandoned for the sake of sin. The meaning is: Although it is extremely tolerant of the karma of torment, and the three evil destinies have courageous strength, in the place occupied by the heroes where the army of the ten virtuous dharmas is numerous and strong, although no battle flag camp of evil destinies has been set up, all those who break the vows of individual liberation, the Bodhisattva vows, and the secret mantra vows, belong to you, that is, are controlled by the evil destinies. That is to say, in the past, breaking vows had faults.
