I realize the supreme path of purifying with great wisdom and clear light, and even though the inner elements are practiced with Trekchö (Tibetan: ཁྲེགས་ཆོད་), they are still not able to purify better than dust. The great rainbow body transformation matures into a vajra body, and for the benefit of others, it acts until samsara is empty. Therefore, the Nyingma school distinguishes well the characteristics of its own view, meditation, conduct, and result, all four of which are superior, and it is the supreme of oral instructions. Thus, attachment to self arises from sudden causes. Before this disappears into the pure realm of dharmadhatu, the conceptual thoughts deluded by sudden causes, under the influence of various phenomena arising like a stream from the six consciousnesses, ultimately grasp the selflessness of one's own mind, which is inherently without self, as self, and grasp what is not other as other. Therefore, it becomes the cause of obscurations for those who initially have a body. Samatha and vipassana are both of the same essence, but there are two different ways of guiding. In the former, in the aspect of samatha, the samadhi of abiding and the wisdom of clarity are both combined in samatha-vipassana, and it is necessary to establish it in the meaning that is free from the extremes of duality. The latter can also be divided into two: that which arises from wisdom and that which arises from oral instructions. The meaning of "that which arises from wisdom" is that, like following sound, one focuses single-pointedly on the meaning of what is heard and becomes still, that is, the immovability of conceptual thoughts. And beyond that, seeing what is to be seen, etc., realizing the meaning of being free from dualistic grasping is the very nature of pure vipassana. That which arises from oral instructions is because it follows the meaning. The mind, being free from thoughts and unwavering, is samatha, and knowing its nature as inexpressible, inconceivable, and unutterable is vipassana. In short, the best dissolves bad conceptual thoughts into the dharmakaya, and if one realizes the equality of good and bad, there is no need to rely on antidotes. The middling purifies whatever conceptual thoughts arise in the natural state, and by becoming accustomed to the path of combined samatha-vipassana, all good and bad thoughts dissolve into the dharmadhatu, and one is free from dualistic grasping. The lowest first seeks only samatha, as a means of making the mind unwavering.

It is very important to strive diligently. Once one has gained stable focus and becomes accustomed to the wisdom of individually realizing the wisdom of insight, if one realizes the meaning of reality as it is, just as one cannot find earth and stones even if one goes to the ultimate golden continent, no matter what thoughts of mind and mental events arise, realizing the meaning of the inseparability of appearance and mind, the realization of the great primordial liberation, without an object of observation or an observer, will arise. As the supreme of methods, no matter what good or bad thoughts arise, one should neither reject them nor have anything to cultivate. If one does not follow them, does not waver from one's natural state, and remains without change, one will attain all the qualities of purified faculties, such as the divine eye, the wisdom eye, and the six kinds of clairvoyance. If any thought arises and follows the five objects, and is associated with attachment and aversion, it is ordinary. In the knowledge that is clear and unobscured like a mirror, the objects of appearance, such as forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile sensations, appear unceasingly, shining like stars and moons in the ocean, but if one is not tainted by deliberately grasping at everything with conceptual mind, then the connection between the object of grasping and the grasping mind is severed. The pinnacle of the view of self-cognizance, non-conceptualization, the sixteen grounds, is reached from this very moment in the realm of the wisdom of the guru. In short, the five paths of Dzogchen are: the path of space, which is the single, unchanging nature of all phenomena; the path of wisdom, which is the extraordinary wisdom that thoroughly distinguishes all phenomena; the path of luminosity, which is Tögal, the lamp of pure space, and the lamp of the vajra chain of awareness, these two aspects. The path of Trekchö is the simultaneous arising and liberation of whatever thoughts arise, like water and waves. The path of Tögal is that outer space is empty, and inner space, the space of mind, is free from permanence and annihilation. Awareness is the spontaneous power of wisdom, from which the chain of beads arises. Knowing that these are the uncommon five paths of self-perfected Great Perfection, the so-called friend of ignorance, the fault of delusion and bewilderment, and the deception of being distracted by various illusory appearances, makes the desolate wilderness of endless samsara terrifying. The grasping that accumulates many great faults of creating the ten non-virtuous actions and the five poisons and three poisons
