Therefore, it neither increases nor decreases completely. Thus it is. Therefore, just as the fruit, Bodhi, functions nominally, so does the cause, the path of meditation. Just as the former does not function ultimately, so does the latter, and thus the relationship of cause and effect is correctly explained. Thirdly, in the Ornament of Realization, the first two lines are considered not to be universally established in conventional truth, and the latter two are related to showing what the reality of Bodhi and the path is like, and are explained separately. Here, the third line is taken before the first as an example, and the fourth is taken before the second as meaning, and they are put together as a response to the denial of universal establishment in conventional truth, and it is directly shown that the reason why Bodhi and the path do not function ultimately is that their nature is Suchness. Therefore, it is considered to be suggestive, i.e., having a reason. Of these, the explanation of the first line is from "how there is no difference" to "the master of the Buddhas" to "Thus." The third is from "Suchness" to "nature." The fourth is "the characteristic of Suchness is also such." The second is the remainder after discarding these. This has three aspects: not being universally established in conventional truth, the answer to ultimate truth, and summarizing the meaning of these two. The first point has two aspects: giving an example and applying it to the meaning. The first point is: it is proven. How is giving an example. Through what? Merely through the unsurpassed Bodhi of the Buddhas as the condition of the master. What kind of Bodhi? Ultimately, there is no difference between the agent and the object, i.e., the characteristic of Suchness, which is free from elaboration and cannot be proven. Since it is the nature of wisdom without the elaboration of the grasper and the grasped, it realizes the non-duality of the realm of wisdom, and becomes the nature of the wisdom Dharmakaya, etc. Where? In the meaning desired by the beings to be tamed, i.e., higher rebirth and definite goodness. How? In accordance with how they accumulate merit and wisdom, i.e., the two accumulations. Relying on what? For that meaning, in the previous path of learning, through the mind of the appearance of the special meaning of benefiting others and Bodhi, which is generated by oneself, i.e., relying on it.

From there. The second is: Connect it by saying that it acts in the same way as the example. By what? By this meditation path, which in ultimate truth has no difference of decrease and increase, and is characterized by suchness. Moreover, not only does it accomplish the meaning of enlightenment and suchness, but it also guides in two ways. From where does it accomplish the activity of desiring manifestation, abandoning and obtaining what is to be abandoned and what is to be cultivated? Where does it accomplish it? In conventional truth. Through what means? Through meditating on selflessness, it causes the impurities of adventitious stains to be separated from what is to be abandoned, and through the means of making the antidote path manifest. The previous non-difference is taken first in this and this conventional truth. The second is: In ultimate truth, it is desired because it is free from elaboration, without difference of decrease and increase, so it is accepted in the manner of negating the decrease of what is to be abandoned and the increase of the antidote. Some say that this is indicated by "this is the root intention," but "intention" must hold both answers. The third is: At the time of ultimate truth, there is no fault of proving the undesired because there is no connection between what is to be abandoned and the antidote with decrease and increase. At the time of conventional truth, there is no fault of the meditation path not being considered as the antidote to the nine categories of what is to be abandoned and meditated upon, because there is a connection between what is to be abandoned and the antidote with decrease and increase. This is a summary of the meaning of the previous answer given with the two truths. The second part has two parts: debate and answer. The first part has three parts, the first of which is: Because there is no decrease and increase in ultimate truth, it does not act there, but even if that is the case, it is said to dispel the doubt that it cannot accomplish the meaning of attaining enlightenment not only in ultimate truth but also in conventional truth. If it is said that accomplishing the desired meaning in conventional truth is so, then that statement is meaningless, because it would become "even if it acts in conventional truth, it cannot act in conventional truth," and there is also nothing to be summarized in the following. Here, it is necessary to prevent attaining Buddhahood through the meditation path, but preventing attaining Buddhahood through generating the mind of enlightenment is because preventing attaining Buddhahood through the pervasive factor also prevents attaining Buddhahood through the pervaded factor. Although this is explained, previously there was a debate about the example of "generating the mind of enlightenment that manifests a special meaning," thinking that if the example is established, then it can be established that the meditation path produces decrease and increase, but that example is not established, if enlightenment is attained, it is attained through generating the mind of enlightenment.
