It is the way of clinging to the conceptualization of grasping. Thus, what is meant here by sentient beings and persons is not merely thinking of the person among the two, dharma and person, but merely as a symbol of the grasper of objects. In this regard, in the Ornament's Illumination, in the context of the peak, the four conceptualizations to be abandoned by meditation are also explained like the abandonments by seeing, as the conceptualization of grasping that enters and reverts, the substantial clinging, and the conceptualization of imputation. Among them, "the one who clings to the self that exists substantially" and "the one who clings to the self that exists imputedly" are explained from the perspective of the self of phenomena. In the Sun's Illumination, there is no clear explanation of the naming of the four conceptualizations to be abandoned by meditation in the peak junction. In the context of the Kinsman Assembly, the mere appearance of things, the appearance of antidotes, imputation on all noble individuals, and reliance on the reason for that imputation, etc. The first two of the four abandonments by seeing are the same as before, except that the appearance is not mentioned. The latter two are said to rely on the person who exists substantially and the individual who exists imputedly, thus the terms are agreed upon. It is unreasonable to consider the application of the terms of the former four to the four abandonments by meditation of the peak junction as the intention of the noble ones. If that were the case, the terms of the abandonments by seeing would also have to be applied to the abandonments by seeing of the peak junction. That is also unreasonable, because the Sun's Illumination also imputes it as relying on entering and reverting. If the grasping conceptualizations are grasping onto phenomena, then even ordinary beings have knowledge of the selflessness of all phenomena, therefore their grasping is not pervaded by substantial clinging. Furthermore, the noble ones have also said, "After the night passed, in the morning I heard the sound of a jackal howling," therefore it is illogical that the grasping of the noble ones is not pervaded by imputed clinging. As an answer to this, the realization of selflessness by ordinary beings is belief and mental engagement, while imputed clinging is considered here as suchness mental engagement. Furthermore, when the noble ones say "I," there is clinging to self, that is merely a term or expression, thus the clinging to self is said to be substantial clinging, and the Ornament's Illumination also says the same. If it is said like that, then the answer to this will be explained later. The second view is that some people consider the grasping of ordinary beings as substantial clinging and the grasping of noble ones as imputed clinging, grasping onto the conceptualizations of these two as conceptualizations, and elaborating on the details of the conceptualizations of these two,

This is unreasonable, because the objects of these two conceptualizations are not any of those two, but rather appear as many other things. In the Commentary, it says: "The term 'ordinary being' refers to those who are called individuals, who follow the customs of the world. These exist as substances, capable of accomplishing true conventional purposes, and are not like a second moon. Grasping is thinking, 'This is true,' because it is manifest. And also from scripture: 'Because action, nature, and distinctions are spoken of.'" It means that ordinary beings are able to function in true conventionality, therefore they exist as substances, and are manifest, and their cause (action), result (nature), and the distinctions of action are spoken of, all of which are explained as reasons for grasping as substantial. Regarding the way in which the conceptualization of imputation operates, it also says there: "Noble beings are those who have passed beyond sorrow, and passing beyond sorrow is merely an imputation. Thus it is said, 'Monks, these five things are merely imputations.' What five? The past, the future, passing beyond sorrow, individually analyzed cessation, and persons—these are merely names." These are what were said. Thus, grasping is thinking, "This is true," because it is established by being known as merely a name. And if that mere name did not exist, who would strive on the path? Therefore, the term 'merely a name' also leads to the inference that noble beings exist. It means that noble beings have passed beyond sorrow, and passing beyond sorrow is said to be an imputation, therefore noble beings are imputations. And if even the name did not exist, there would be no effort on the path, therefore merely the name infers the existence of noble beings, which is explained as the way of grasping. This is very unreasonable, because the later scripture says that passing beyond sorrow is an imputation, and if noble beings are imputations of persons, then ordinary beings would also become imputations of persons, because this scripture says that all persons are imputations. Both the root text and the commentary explain ordinary beings and noble beings as conceptualizers, but do not explain them as objects of conceptualization. And in the Compendium, it also says: "What is an ordinary being? Those who have not attained the qualities of noble beings are called ordinary beings." Because it is said to be an imputed non-associated compositional factor, it should not be said. Because persons are merely imputed by the mind, therefore ordinary beings and
