If it is said to be unreasonable because it is a klesha-avarana, some answer that if one cognizes the self of a person as a klesha-avarana, but this one thinks that the substantially existent and nominally designated self takes and abandons samsara and nirvana, therefore, because it thinks in relation to other dharmas, it is a jneya-avarana. This is very unreasonable. If that were the case, then holding Ishvara as the cause of beings would also be entailed as not being a klesha-avarana. If you accept that, then it would also become a non-common object of abandonment of the bodhisattva path. If it is uncertain, then the former is also a jneya-avarana that holds in relation to other dharmas, therefore, the assertion that it is not an object of abandonment for shravakas and pratyekabuddhas is ruined. Because it would become a non-common object of abandonment for bodhisattvas, Kumarashri's explanation that the person who exists substantially is the one who holds the substantial self of the person, and the purusha who exists nominally is the one who holds the self of dharmas, is also unreasonable. Therefore, if one is attached to the substantially existent and nominally designated person as the grasper of objects, then no one can refute the entailment that it is not a non-common object of abandonment. Although it is said to cognize as a person or sentient being, what is grasped is merely the dharmas of the skandhas, dhatus, and ayatanas, which are the basis for imputing them as those that are not real. That is, although one is not attached to the person who is permanent, singular, and independent as the grasper of objects, the imputation of merely dharmas devoid of that self as the grasper arises. And for that dharma, there will be two ways of being attached: one is to grasp it as a substantially existent entity that is truly established and to be attached in that way; the other is to grasp it as merely a nominal designation that is not established in reality and to think in that way. The third has two parts: establishing one's own system and showing that others' systems are unreasonable. The first is: if one asks how one is attached to those objects through conceptual thought, it is by focusing on the grasped objects of samsara and nirvana, and in sequence, holding the dissimilar, thinking, "This is a grasped object that should be abandoned in all respects," and holding the similar, thinking, "This is a grasped object that should be taken in all respects." This is the way of being attached by grasped conceptual thought. The way of being attached by the peak of grasped conceptual thought is to be attached thinking, "This is the Hinayana path, so one should turn away from it," and "This is the Mahayana path, so one should enter into it." The way of being attached is to think that the basis imputed as a person is substantially established, and that the basis imputed there is merely a designation, thinking, "This is the grasper or enjoyer of objects."
