Because of the habit of seeing the truth with wisdom, it is necessary to abandon from coarse to fine, because merely seeing is not enough to abandon, therefore, from the perspective of the ground, it is established as coarse and fine. Regarding the meaning of conceptually imputed and co-emergent for what is to be abandoned by seeing and what is to be abandoned by cultivation, it does not refer to the manifest and latent states of mind that have been transformed or not transformed by the doctrines of outsiders. In this way, what is to be abandoned by seeing is the wrong adherence to the truth, and what is to be abandoned by cultivation is the wrong adherence to the object. Why are two different aspects of what is to be abandoned by seeing shown in the Compendium of Topics and the Compendium of Cognitions? Regarding this, some explain that it is the view of different treatises, and some say that it is due to the different doctrines of the Sautrāntika and Yogācāra schools, but this is not the real meaning. What is it then? What is said in the Compendium of Cognitions is that all afflictions arise until the true nature of reality is seen, and they cease when it is seen, therefore it is said to be the wrong adherence to the truth. In the Compendium of Topics, it says four, which is a rough establishment, but if viewed from a subtle perspective, it is the same as in the Compendium of Cognitions. It is said in the Compendium of Topics itself that the reason for arising is the same as what is said in the Compendium of Cognitions, therefore there is no contradiction. In the case of the Great Vehicle, which of the two doctrines of what is to be abandoned by seeing and what is to be abandoned by cultivation in terms of afflictive obscurations should be followed? In the Manifestation of Ornament and the Intent of the Sage, the doctrine of the Compendium of Cognitions is proclaimed in the context of bodhisattvas, therefore this doctrine should be accepted. The fourth part is divided into two parts: how to abandon what is to be abandoned by seeing and what is to be abandoned by cultivation. The first part is divided into two parts: showing other doctrines, and establishing one's own doctrine. The first part is: In the Compendium of Topics and the Treasury of Knowledge, it is said that what is to be abandoned by seeing in the truth of suffering in the desire realm is abandoned by the two, the forbearance of dharma and the knowledge of dharma regarding suffering; what is to be abandoned by seeing in the truth of suffering in the upper realms is abandoned by the two, the subsequent forbearance and the subsequent knowledge regarding suffering. The remaining truths are also the same, the antidotes to what is to be abandoned by seeing in the upper and lower realms are different. This is the view of the Śrāvakas, according to the Abhidharma masters. Some Tibetans, in the case of the Great Vehicle, accept the establishment of what is to be abandoned by seeing that appears in the Compendium of Cognitions, but when explaining the way of abandoning, they say it is the same as the Treasury of Knowledge, which is because they do not understand the uncommon way of abandoning in the Compendium of Cognitions, and are showing their own true view. Similarly, Abhayākara also said that the number of what is to be abandoned by seeing and the way of wrong adherence are the same as in the Compendium of Cognitions, there are more than a hundred.

Divided into twelve, it is held that the four forbearance of the Dharma have forty things to be abandoned by the path of seeing, and the four subsequent forbearance hold that seventy-two things to be abandoned by the path of seeing in the upper realms are abandoned. Although this is the saying of the great Pandit, it is only known that the number of things to be abandoned by the path of seeing in the upper and lower Abhidharma is inconsistent, but the difference in the way of abandonment is not understood, so it should be abandoned. So what is the view of the Compendium? This will be explained in the wisdom of the path, and also, some of the wrong statements in the Compendium about the path of seeing should also be refuted at that time. Second, the real antidote to the four things to be abandoned by the path of seeing, which are abandoned by seeing the four truths, will be explained. There are three parts to the second: the way it is said in the Dharma Abhidharma. Examine what its intention is. Show other differences in abandoning the antidote. First, there are two ways to abandon afflictions: like this, by meditating on the tranquility and roughness of the upper and lower grounds, and by abandoning the root of all afflictions—ignorance and attachment—by meditating on the emptiness of the aggregates and the selflessness of the person. That is, for the nine grounds, the antidote to the eighty-one things to be abandoned by the path of meditation is divided into nine, and the worldly and transcendental paths of meditation also have the same number of substances. However, for the nine things to be abandoned at the peak of existence, there is no abandonment by the worldly path of meditation. Among them, the first abandons manifestation, the second abandons latent tendencies, the first is also common with heretics, and the second is the uncommon path of this teaching. There are also two ways in which the transcendental path of meditation abandons the things to be abandoned in the three realms: some Hearers do not distinguish between realms and grounds, but combine them and meditate on the selflessness of the person, thereby simultaneously abandoning the small, medium, and large afflictions of the three realms; distinguishing them and meditating on the grounds in order, thereby abandoning them in order, and saying these two ways, but not clearly explaining the differences of the Mahayana. However, in the Compendium, what kind of attention is used to abandon? It is focused on the mixture, which is called the selflessness of all dharmas. Whatever the aspects of impermanence, etc., are, they are completely taming the aspects of selflessness, like this, like the object of simultaneous action, paying attention to the selflessness of all dharmas.
