This is not suitable as an example. Just as, according to your view, the external objects do not arise in dreams, the nature of consciousness is also not produced. Therefore, just as when one sees forms upon waking, the eye, form, and mind, the three, are combined, so too, in dreams, when one fully apprehends the objects, one mentally conceives of the combination of the three. Just as in dreams there are neither the eye nor the object of the eye, form, so too, the mind produced by these two, the consciousness of the eye, does not exist either. Therefore, all three—the eye, form, and mind—in dreams are false. Like these three, the remaining three of the three of the eye, such as the ear, are also not produced by nature. Here, the word "etc." includes from sound and the consciousness of the ear to the mind and the realm of phenomena and the consciousness of the mind. As it is said, the four from the ear faculty to the body faculty, the four from sound to the sense-sphere of touch, and the four such as the consciousness of the ear, just as it was explained for the three of the eye before, in dreams, even if these are not present, they are false because they appear as the forms of these. The three of the mind, although they exist in dreams, are false because they appear there as if they exist, even though they do not exist by nature. Therefore, to establish that there are sense consciousnesses in dreams according to the view of this teacher and to refute this is a very crude application of intelligence. It is like the saying that the sun of refutation rises in the darkness before dawn, so it should be discarded far away. For some who consider themselves to be Tibetan scholars, to think that a scholar who is proficient in such a tenet is a great bodhisattva, without even understanding the rough views of those who recognize them, and to regard them as fields for constantly accumulating non-merit, and it seems that many sentient beings are being connected with non-merit, so be careful. Here, the Mind-Only school, as explained by "if in sleep," etc., establishes its own tenet, and the teacher Legden also gives the answer that the example is not established: "Is the form thrown into the realm of phenomena something to be apprehended by the consciousness of the mind? Because it exists in dreams, consciousness does not exist anywhere without an object." Thus he says. To this, that is also unreasonable.
