Composed by Chandrakirti. In other treatises, Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas are taken as objects of veneration. Here, not only are they not taken as objects of veneration, but before the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the Bhagavati is praised first, who is fully endowed with the cause of Buddhahood, first, characterized by completely protecting all helpless beings bound in the prison of samsara. In order to show that great compassion should be praised as the primary factor, the two verses beginning with "Śrāvaka" etc. are spoken. Here there are two: 1. Showing compassion as the main cause of Bodhisattvas; 2. Showing compassion as the root of the other two causes of Bodhisattvas. The first part has three: 1. How Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas arise from the Able One; 2. How Buddhas arise from Bodhisattvas; 3. Showing the three main causes of Bodhisattvas. The first part is: Having heard the correct instructions from others, and having attained the fruit of Śrāvaka-bodhi through meditation, one is called a Śrāvaka because one makes that meaning heard to others. The way of making heard is: "Thus it is done, it is done. Other existences are not known." etc., as it appears extensively in the scriptures. This etymological explanation does not apply to some Śrāvakas etc. of the formless realm, but there is no fault, because the actual meaning of the word lies in the reason for the etymological explanation, and it is not universally applicable. For example, a lotus that grows on land is also called a lotus born from the sea. Or, the Sanskrit word for Śrāvaka is śrāvaka, which also means hearing and proclaiming. Just as having heard from the Buddhas, one proclaims the path to the supreme fruit or Buddhahood to those who have the lineage of the Great Vehicle and are dedicated to that path, therefore one is called a Śrāvaka. As it says in the White Lotus Sutra: "O Lord, today we have become Śrāvakas, and we will also proclaim the supreme Bodhi, and we will also speak of the sound of Bodhi, therefore we are like unbearable Śrāvakas." These two reasons are reasons similar to Śrāvakas for Bodhisattvas, while for Śrāvakas, they are the actual meanings of hearing and proclaiming. Some say that the third line does not have the word "supreme", so the former Bodhi is the Bodhi of the Great Vehicle, and the latter Bodhi is the Bodhi of the Śrāvakas. However, the first

一般来说,buddha(梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思)这个词可以翻译成佛,但在这里不合适。buddha(梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思)这个词也解释为莲花开放和睡醒,所以不必只翻译成佛。

It is about the Bodhi of Mahayana, and the second is to explain the view of acting on the path to Bodhi. Bodhisattvas also hear the path to Buddhahood from the Buddha, and if they think that preaching to those who can be tamed will turn them into Shravakas, then there is no fault, because preaching that path itself is, it is only in accordance, because it is considered that one does not cultivate oneself. The Buddha called "intermediate Buddha" is, in the commentary, the suchness of the Buddha applies to all three types of people. The meaning of what is said is that some people say that the word "tathā buddha" applies to all three types of people, and this explanation is good. Tathā is suchness, and buddha is understanding. As it is said, if the realization of suchness is taken as the meaning of the word buddha, because this meaning is possessed by all three types of people, it is said that the word for realizing suchness can also be used to refer to Pratyekabuddhas, and it is translated as Buddha. In general, the word buddha can be translated as Buddha, but it is not appropriate here. The word buddha is also explained as the opening of a lotus and awakening, so it does not have to be translated only as Buddha. The meaning of intermediate is that Pratyekabuddhas are more superior to Shravakas because of the special characteristic of accumulating merit and wisdom for a hundred kalpas and constantly increasing, but because they do not have the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, as well as the great compassion that constantly enters into all sentient beings, and omniscient wisdom, etc., they are inferior to the fully enlightened Buddha, so they are intermediate. Some people say that the meaning of being more superior in wisdom than Shravakas is to eliminate the conceptualization of the object of grasping, as it is said, it is unreasonable to say this, because in this system, all dharmas are realized as being without self-nature, and both Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas possess it, and the person who says this also seems to approve of this tenet. Therefore, the commentary specifically says that wisdom increases, and increasing means that the progress of the path gets better and better. This is also because they are diligent in being accustomed to merit and wisdom for a hundred kalpas, and it is not impossible to be accustomed to the path like Shravakas. Although the word "accumulation" can be used slightly for merit and wisdom in general, the main reason for using the word "accumulation" is that the commentary "Meaningful Explanation" says, again
