dhyāma ka a-vatāra nāma. (Sanskrit Devanagari: dhyāma ka a-vatāra nāma, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: dhyāma ka a-vatāra nāma, literal Chinese meaning: meditation, entering, name). Translated into Tibetan, it is called "Entering the Middle Way." Here, the Madhyamaka that is entered is: for the purpose of entering the treatises of Madhyamaka. As it is said, it is therefore a treatise of Madhyamaka. Moreover, the commentary on this treatise takes the Root Wisdom as its source, and as it is often said "in Madhyamaka." Therefore, the Root Wisdom should be the main focus, and not other Madhyamaka treatises or the meaning of Madhyamaka. Starting from the root of the Sanskrit word Madhyamaka, it is also explained in the Lamp of Wisdom that the treatises of Madhyamaka or the tenets of Madhyamaka are called Madhyamaka. Although only the word "Madhyamaka" appears, here it should be understood as the treatises of Madhyamaka. So, in what way does this treatise enter the Root Wisdom? To this, some say that that treatise does not elaborate on the nature of conventional truth and ultimate truth, while this elaborates on these two, so it enters that treatise. For the classification of reasons for determining suchness, the Entering the Middle Way is much more extensive than the Root Wisdom, so that statement is not considered correct. My own view is that there are two ways to enter the Root Wisdom: from the perspective of profundity and vastness. The first aspect of this is stated in the auto-commentary: "This tradition is uncommon. The wise should ascertain this." And, because of not realizing this and abandoning the profound Dharma, therefore, in order for the treatise to truly explain suchness, the title "Entering the Middle Way" was added. Thus, the meaning of Madhyamaka that I have determined is to show that it is uncommon with other Madhyamaka schools, and to ensure that the meaning of the treatise cannot be explained merely as conforming to the Mind-Only school, the Entering the Middle Way was written. The Clear Words states that the reason for naming based on dependent origination should be understood from the Entering the Middle Way of Madhyamaka. Furthermore, in order to elaborate on the refutation of the Mind-Only school that is not elaborated in the Root Wisdom and the Clear Words. Therefore, relying on this treatise, through the perspective of these two necessities, to well ascertain the meaning of the Root Wisdom, is one way that this treatise enters the Middle Way. The way to enter the Middle Way from the perspective of vastness is: in this tradition of the noble ones, those who abide in the two vehicles have the wisdom to realize the profound suchness, without

Although it does not differentiate and does not show the characteristics of the vast Mahayana other than the profound aspects of the Root Wisdom Treatise, this treatise belongs to the category of Mahayana among the two vehicles of Hinayana and Mahayana. Because it extensively explains the selflessness of phenomena through limitless reasoning, this is solely within the scope of the Mahayana disciples, and it is also explained in the same way in the Root Wisdom Treatise. Furthermore, in its own commentary, it says: It is reasonable to explain the Mahayana in order to clearly explain the selflessness of phenomena, because it is intended to express the extensive content. In the Hearer Vehicle, the selflessness of phenomena is merely a brief symbol. This has been stated very clearly and will be explained below. Thus, if the path taught in this treatise is filled with other excellent instructions of the vast path of the Mahayana, it would be very good. To make up for this, it is necessary to rely on the three dharmas of the ordinary ground, the ten grounds of the noble learners, the ground of fruition, and the order of the fifth and sixth grounds, relying on the nature of meditative stabilization, quiescence, and cultivating insight by examining the suchness of the two selflessnesses with the wisdom of discriminating awareness. Therefore, when contemplating the meaning of the Root Wisdom Treatise, if one remembers these contents spoken from the Introduction and does not generate the stages of the path that combine both profundity and vastness, then that person has lost the two necessary purposes of composing the Introduction to the Middle Way. Therefore, relying on this treatise to enter the path of the Root Wisdom Treatise from the perspective of vastness is the second way to enter the Middle Way. The second is that it is easy to understand the meaning of the words. Paying homage to Manjushri, because this treatise is the actual establishment of the ultimate truth, and the practice of wisdom is the main focus, it is done in accordance with the previous regulations. The third has four points: the offering and praise as a way to enter the composition of the treatise, the actual body of the composed treatise, how the treatise was composed, and the dedication of the merit of composing the treatise. The first point has two: praising great compassion without differentiation, and paying homage to great compassion with differentiation. The first is, in order to be able to enter the Middle Way treatise,
