This must be done. Because that sutra must show a simultaneity with the example of the high and low of the scales, therefore it is not permissible to say that the seed and the sprout are simultaneous. Therefore, the negation of the identity of two actions refers to two actions that are established by their own characteristics, but it is not a negation of the general simultaneous existence of two actions. Therefore, once birth is accepted, there must be a simultaneity of the two aspects of the cessation of the cause and the manifestation of the fruit. This is not contradictory to merely accepting birth nominally, but it is contradictory to accepting birth in the ultimate sense and by its own nature. Because in the former, although the two actions of the cause and effect of arising and ceasing are simultaneous, the cause and effect do not have to be simultaneous; while in the latter, if the actions are simultaneous, then the cause and effect must also be simultaneous. Thus, the action of the fruit arising must depend on the sprout and other producers, so it is the basis and the dependent. If the basis and the dependent are established in the ultimate sense, then the transformation of nature is not reasonable. Because at any time the action needs a basis, so even at the time when the sprout and others are tending towards birth, there must be a sprout as the basis of the action of birth, therefore the fault of the cause and effect appearing simultaneously is not reasonable. For nominal birth, once it becomes a basis and a dependent, it does not always have to be so, so it is not the same. The action of the sprout arising simultaneously with the seed is the action of the sprout tending towards birth. It and the sprout are generally the basis and the dependent, and it is not contradictory that even if there is no sprout at the time of that action, the action exists. For example, in general, if the object of relation does not exist, then the relation disappears; the seed is the object of relation, and the sprout is the relation; at the time of the sprout, even if the seed disappears, it is not contradictory that the sprout does not disappear. Like this, if one can understand well how to refute outwards with reasoning, and the reasoning of refutation does not turn back to refute itself, then one can establish the Madhyamaka school without error, otherwise, if one only speaks of appearances as when preventing, and relies on sophistry when refuting, then we will not argue with madmen. Do as it is said in the Clear Words. The second point is that what is said here is that there is no simultaneous existence of seed and sprout, therefore, the essence

Since there is no otherness, it is unreasonable for something to arise from another. If cause and effect exist simultaneously, then there is otherness, therefore there is other-arising. For example, eye-consciousness and the feelings that arise simultaneously with it, and so on. Just as eye and form, etc., and feelings, etc., arise together, and only at the same time does eye-consciousness arise, some say that eye, etc., and mind are also only simultaneously the cause of feelings, etc. If one considers that the intelligence of the eye, that is, eye-consciousness, its own producer, the eye, etc., which is simultaneous with itself, and the consciousness, etc., that arise together with them, are the cause, then, even if one allows for otherness in relation to consciousness, etc., what need is there for something that already exists at the time of the cause to arise again? Because there is no need at all, there is no arising. If one wants to avoid the fault of no arising and says that the effect does not exist at the time of the cause, then, for this thing that exists before and after, the fault of otherness without inherent existence has already been explained. In this way, this reasoning shows that even if there is otherness in what is accepted as cause and effect, self-arising is impossible. Therefore, it shows that other-arising is impossible. And the previous reasoning shows that even if cause and effect can arise, it is impossible for it to be other in its own nature. Therefore, it shows that other-arising is impossible. Therefore, saying that arising from another exists, because the meaning expressed is empty, in the end, only the sound of such an expression remains. Third, if the producer produces the produced, producing from something other than itself, then is the effect produced by that cause inherently existent, or non-existent, or both existent and non-existent, or neither existent nor non-existent? This should be examined. First, if the effect is inherently existent, then what need is there for a producing condition? There is no need. If something that is inherently existent arises, then it becomes that something that has already arisen arises again. And this has already been shown to be unreasonable. What can that condition do for a non-existent effect? Because it is non-existent like a donkey's horn. What can that condition do for something that is both existent and non-existent? Because it is impossible for these two to be together. That which is contrary to both existence and non-existence
