Some say that the earlier Bodhi is of the Mahayana, and the later Bodhi is of the Shravakas. But the first is the Bodhi of the Mahayana, and the second is explained as the path to that Bodhi. If Bodhisattvas, after hearing the path to Buddhahood from the Buddha, think that proclaiming it to those to be tamed will turn them into Shravakas, there is no fault, because it is precisely the act of proclaiming that path. Even just conforming to it, it is because they are considering that they themselves are not practicing it. The Buddha called "intermediate Buddha," the commentary says that the suchness of the Buddha applies to all three types of individuals, meaning that some say that the term "tathā buddha" applies to all three types of individuals, which is a good explanation, as tathā is suchness, and buddha is understanding. As it says, if realizing suchness is taken as the meaning of the term buddha, then because all three types of individuals possess this meaning, it should be said that the term for realizing suchness also applies to Pratyekabuddhas, and it is translated as Buddha. Generally, the term buddha can be translated as Buddha, but it is not appropriate here. The term buddha is also explained as the blooming of a lotus and awakening, so it does not need to be translated only as Buddha. The meaning of intermediate is that Pratyekabuddhas, through the distinction of accumulating merit and wisdom for a hundred kalpas and constantly increasing them, are superior to Shravakas. But because they do not have the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, and the great compassion that constantly engages with all sentient beings, and omniscient knowledge, etc., they are lower than the complete Buddha, therefore they are intermediate. Some say that it is more superior in wisdom than Shravakas, as it says, "In order to abandon the conceptualization of the object to be grasped," which is unreasonable, because in this system it is said that both Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas realize that all dharmas are without inherent existence, and the one who says that also seems to agree with that tenet. Therefore, the commentary specifically mentions the increase of wisdom, and the increase is that the progress of the path becomes better and better. This is also because they diligently cultivate the habit of accumulating merit and wisdom for a hundred kalpas, and it is not that they cannot cultivate the habit of the path like Shravakas. Merit and wisdom in general

Although it only adds the sound of "tshegs." But the main reason for adding the sound of "tshogs" is, as stated in the commentary "Meaningful Explanation": "Because of holding the great Bodhi with the nature of perfect accomplishment, great compassion and so on are tshogs." Therefore, the means of accomplishing the unsurpassed Bodhi without any inversion, as it is said, holding the fruit is the merit and wisdom that fulfill the meaning. The two that do not fulfill this meaning are ordinary tshogs. This is also the meaning explained by the etymology of the Sanskrit word for tshogs (Sanskrit Devanagari: सम्भार, Sanskrit Romanization: saṃbhāra, Chinese literal meaning: accumulation). Because the progress of merit and wisdom far surpasses that of the Shravakas, even in the desire realm, at the time of the last existence, one can generate the wisdom of an Arhat without relying on the teachings of other teachers. Moreover, because one becomes a Buddha solely by oneself, that is, attains or causes to attain the Arhat fruit, one is called a Pratyekabuddha, and also called self-born. Although the term "Thubpa" also applies to Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Arhats, because it is not the "Thubpa Wangpo," only the Buddha is called "Thubpa Wangpo," because from among the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas, one has also attained the unsurpassed and supreme Dharma sovereignty, and the third person rules the politics of Dharma by the command of the Buddha. The Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas born from these Thubpa Wangpos are created by them. If one asks how the Thubpa Wangpo creates Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas? When the Buddha comes into the world, he engages in teaching the profound dependent origination without any inversion. This method is heard by those of the Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha lineages, the meaning of what is heard is contemplated, and the meaning of what is contemplated is meditated upon. Moreover, from such a sequence, the desires of both Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are fulfilled, just as the fruit they desire, therefore, these two are created by the Thubpa Wangpo. If one thinks that when many Shravaka lineage individuals hear the Dharma from the Buddha, they immediately manifest Bodhi, but Pratyekabuddha lineage individuals cannot manifest their own Bodhi in the same lifetime, therefore, they engage in hearing, thinking, and meditating on the meaning spoken by the Thubpa, and their own desires cannot be fulfilled, this is unreasonable. There is no fault, because if some Pratyekabuddha lineage individuals, only by hearing the dependent origination spoken by the teacher, become skilled in realizing the ultimate meaning.
