The conceptual thought that grasps at this is also imputed, not innate, because the grasper and the grasped are cause and effect. In the world, there is no innate mind that grasps cause and effect as separate entities. For example, just planting a tree seed and later observing the tree, the statement "I planted this" is seen as faultless. If so, would other-birth be obstructed by the consciousness of designation? Worldly people do not regard cause and effect as separate entities, but through reasoning, they understand that there is no separate entity established by its own nature. According to our own system, innate view of the transitory collection focuses on the person, and it is impossible to focus on the aggregates. Therefore, as the basis of the person, neither a part of the aggregates nor a collection is permissible, because the taker and the taken cannot be one. Moreover, since the person is merely designated in dependence on the aggregates, the aggregates themselves are not the person, nor is something other than the aggregates the person. These are to be understood from the context of the sevenfold chariot reasoning. If form is self, etc., what are the twenty extreme views of the view of the transitory collection? Although those focus on the aggregates, they are also imputed, not innate, because it is said that upon attaining the fruit of stream-entry, the view of the body is abandoned. Eighth, regarding the way in which the Buddha knows all that exists. The phenomena of dependent arising are not directly known with the appearance of truth, because if that were the case, since the appearance of truth is mistaken, the appearance of the object alone would also be mistaken. If you accept that, since the consciousness that grasps at truth is mistaken, the consciousness of the object-possessor must also be reversed. Therefore, the Buddha does not have the consciousness of the object-possessor, or else he has not abandoned the grasping at truth. Then, how does he directly know all that exists while being free from the appearance of truth? When directly realizing that dependent arising is without inherent existence, the appearance of truth must be reversed, because if it is not, since the opposite of ultimate truth appears directly, there will be confusion about the appearing object. Therefore, when directly seeing the ultimate mode of abiding of dependent arising, the appearance of truth must be reversed, because truth does not exist in dependent arising, and its mode of abiding is seen without error.

Similarly, dependent arisings abide in performing the activity of being devoid of inherent existence. However, even when seeing their mode of abiding without error, the appearance of truth transforms into a clear appearance of truth. Therefore, one directly realizes emptiness through the appearance of truth. Alternatively, it should be understood as follows: When someone with direct perception looks at someone with a fever, although they directly see that the person with the fever perceives objects in a distorted way, it does not become an error. This is because it does not appear distorted due to the power of one's own mind's defects. Likewise, all such appearances of truth, no matter how many, are directly realized by the wisdom that knows everything, but it does not become an error, because it does not appear as true due to the power of the inner mind. Now, in connection with these, one should understand the distinction between sutras of definitive meaning and sutras of provisional meaning. In that regard, one should also understand in two ways how the Mind-Only school distinguishes definitive and provisional meaning based on which sutra, and how the Madhyamaka school distinguishes them based on which sutra. The first is to follow the Sutra Unraveling the Intention. The Unraveling of the Intention was spoken as a response to ten questions asked by ten Bodhisattvas. Among them, the meaning of the questions and answers of the Bodhisattva Don Dam Yang Dak Phak (Real Meaning Truly Noble) regarding definitive and provisional meaning is said to be summarized and determined. If we briefly explain the meaning, it is about the Bodhisattva being able to ask the question, the teacher giving three answers, asking about the meaning of the answers, and how definitive and provisional meaning are established through that. The first is that the Bhagavan, in the first teachings and so on, said that all phenomena such as the aggregates are established by their own characteristics. Also, in the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, it is said that all phenomena are without essence, unborn, unceasing, peaceful from the beginning, and naturally in nirvana. Therefore, he asked what the intention and necessity were for saying things like "without essence." When the way of being without essence is spoken, the intention of saying that it is established by its own characteristics is also easily understood, so he did not ask what its intention was. The second is explaining the intention of being without essence, explaining the intention of the remaining four, and the necessity of determining it in that way. The first is the intention of being without essence.
