It will be explained later why it is unreasonable to use many valid cognitions for one object of measurement. The reasons given in the commentary are explanations of the fundamental vows, not the fundamental arguments. To establish the property of the subject, there is duality, but to refute the three components: If there is a generality, etc. For example, like a blue lotus, there is a duality of self-generality mixture, so there is a third component, so it is not certain that self-character and general-character are each two. If you think so, it is not right. Because there is no other object of measurement other than the self-character and the general-character each being two. In general, there is no object of measurement other than the self-character and the general-character, which is also admitted by the other party, so there is no other object of measurement that is not determined as each part. If there is duality, but there are three components, then the number determination of destruction must also be admitted in your own school. If it is thought that the particularity of the lotus and the blue are generalities, so the blue lotus is the third component, it is unreasonable. Because both are only self-characters. If it is thought that the former is self-character and the latter is general-character, it is also unreasonable. Because blue is only self-character. The ability to function and the inability to function are real contradictions based on mutual exclusion, and the one that can function slightly is only the self-character. The object of measurement that cannot function is the general-character, so the three components of duality are impossible in any case. If these discussions for establishing the numerical certainty of two valid cognitions are only for the Sautrāntika school, or are they the common view of the Cittamatra school? If it is the former, it is unreasonable. Because the two truths will be determined in detail later, it is necessary to explain the yoga direct perception that directly realizes it, and classify it as part of the classification of direct perception, and because it is not explained elsewhere except here, and because the latter three establishers of self-character are also necessarily possessed in the immutable and perfect. If it is the common view of both, then even if the immutable and perfect cannot function, the Cittamatra school will not admit that it is a general-character, because it is unreasonable. The Mind-Only school does not admit that the inability to function is pervaded by the general-character, and the self-character is pervaded by the ability to function.

Moreover, the latter three reasons are true for the immutable and perfect, but here it is only in terms of the Sautrāntika school, not in terms of the uncommon tenets of the Vijñānavāda school, but in terms of the common aspects. For example, earlier in the second chapter, the characteristics of the seeker of liberation were explained, and later in the case of direct yogic perception, it is also like the common direct yogic perception pointed out in the second chapter. If it is in this sense, the direct yogic perception that measures the selflessness of the person can indirectly realize the selflessness of the person, and in reality, it takes the self-character of things as the object to be grasped, as it is said: "Yogis are taught by the guru, and only see the unmixed meaning." Moreover, in the commentary on the Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning, it is clear from refuting from the opponent's point of view. The direct yogic perception that realizes the immutable and perfect is directly realized, not indirectly realized. The refutation of the three aggregates that are not two is "then" and so on. When hair and other things appear clearly, the hair itself is not a self-character, because it cannot function. It is not a general character, because it appears clearly, and the clear appearance does not follow others. It is an object, because it appears clearly. So, if there is a third measurable aggregate that is neither of the two nor other than them, then, although it is also admitted that the pervasion of the first two is established in one's own system, the pervasion is not established for the latter, because if it is established as an object by valid cognition, then which of the two measurable objects is it? Or is it a third aggregate different from this? Because it can be investigated, it is not established as an object by valid cognition, so it will not become three aggregates. The hair itself is not an object, because if it were an object, then because of being proficient in terminology, one must believe and cling to the place where it appears as being established, but this is not the case. Here, it is preventing the hair itself that appears in the eye consciousness of the appearance of falling hair from being an object, not preventing the consciousness that appears as hair, or the appearance that appears as hair from being an object. The syllogism is that for anyone who does not believe in the nature of the object of dualistic appearance that appears to the valid cognition of his own mindstream, that valid cognition cognizes the knowable object through the appearance of dualistic appearance.
