It is impossible to arise depending on causes and conditions, because if it exists by itself, it does not need to be produced by itself, and if it does not exist by itself, it cannot be a producer. It is dependent arising, because depending on these aggregates at the time of death, those aggregates belonging to birth arise. Therefore, suffering is not made by me. The second case is, if these aggregates at the time of death are different in nature from the aggregates belonging to birth, and if the aggregates belonging to birth are also different in nature from these aggregates at the time of death, then the other present aggregates will create the future aggregates, so suffering will be created by others, which is unreasonable. If it exists differently in nature, then the relationship of cause and effect will not be established. As it will be explained, "depending on what, what arises," and so on. These two verses are translated in Buddhapalita and the Lamp of Wisdom (Śe rab sgron ma) as: "Those others made this, suffering will be made by others." This translation is correct. The second part is divided into two parts: refuting self-creation, and refuting other-creation. The first part is: If suffering itself creates suffering, then it cannot be said that suffering is created by me, because it is the person himself who creates his own suffering, and it is not that others create it and give it to this person, so it is said that suffering is created by me. If a person himself creates the suffering belonging to a person, then what else is there other than the suffering created by the person who created the suffering? It must be said separately that this is suffering, and this is the creator of suffering, and then say that this created this, but in reality, it is impossible to say that. If it is thought that the person who has the near-taking of human suffering creates the suffering of the gods, then that person is not creating his own suffering, but the suffering of others is created by others. If the near-taking aggregates of these two people are different, but the person is not different, this is also unreasonable, because apart from the near-taking aggregates, it is impossible to indicate the person.

Therefore. Secondly, if a human being does not create the suffering of humans, but creates the suffering of gods born in the heavenly realm, and gives it to the being of the gods, and the suffering of the gods also becomes the name of the being of the gods, if that is the case. If the suffering of the gods arises from someone other than the human being, then, another human being creates that suffering, and to whom is that being of the gods given, how can there be anything other than the suffering given? That is impossible. If the suffering of the gods arises from another human being, then, who creates the suffering of the gods, gives it to another god, who places it in the human being with approaching suffering, what is that other than one's own approaching suffering? There is nothing. If the giver and the giver exist by their own nature, then a difference must be found by nature from one's own approaching suffering, but that cannot be found. The verses on refuting the being of the giver do not appear in Buddhapālita and the Lamp of Wisdom, but in the Clear Words, explanations are made separately for both. Furthermore, if suffering is created by the self of the person, and that is established by its own nature, then suffering created by others should also be established by its own nature. Because it has been said before that suffering created by oneself is not self-existent, how could those sufferings be created by others? It is not established. The reason is that the suffering created by others is created by the self of that other. If that person did not create that suffering himself, then how could the suffering of the gods become created by others? Buddhapālita says this, which has the same meaning as the Clear Words. Thirdly, for the time being, suffering is not created by oneself, because suffering itself does not create itself, because it is contradictory for oneself to create oneself. If it is said that suffering is created by another who exists by its own nature, how is that possible? It is not possible. Because the other observed by this "creator" is not created by oneself, that is, it is not established by its own nature, so it is dependent on other conditions. Buddhapālita says that suffering is created by the person himself, and the person also
