These are not the cause of these, how could such a definite self-nature exist? It wouldn't. Secondly, just as the extremely profound reasoning of the noble ones establishes the absence of inherent birth, those who do not understand reasoning and only rely on scriptures, in order to refute their claim that it is established by mere dry philosophical treatises, and in order to show that all the scriptures that teach the unborn nature of phenomena are to be explained by this treatise, merely showing the aspect of combining with scriptures of definitive meaning, as it says in the Noble Sutra of the Source of Jewels: "Wherever there is no wisdom of emptiness, it is like the tracks of birds in the sky." Thus, it is shown that the wisdom that has become one taste with suchness and is free from elaboration is like that example. Suchness is: Wherever there is no essence whatsoever, that will never become the cause of another. Whose essence cannot be found, without self-nature, how could it be the condition of another? Thus, causes and conditions do not have the self-nature of producing, and what does something without self-nature produce? The cause is what the Sugata taught. Thus, the emptiness of the effect not having the self-nature of producing, the Victorious One taught with reason and harmony, that is it. All dharmas are also immovable, abiding firmly, unchanging, without harm, and peaceful, just as the sky has no consciousness. Not understanding that, beings become deluded. Thus, it shows that the suchness of phenomena is immovable, etc., and that is not established like the obstruction of the sky, mountains, etc., but like something else that cannot be understood, it is merely the cessation of the elaboration of movement and immobility, etc., and one should understand it in this way. Because one does not understand that meaning, it is said to be in samsara. Just as mountains do not move, so too phenomena are always unable to move, without death and transference, without birth, the Victorious One has well taught such phenomena. Thus, it shows that phenomena are empty of self-nature, unable to be turned into other forms, and without death and transference, etc. Any dharma that is unborn, unarisen, without death and transference, and does not become old, the Lion of Men shows there, sentient beings

"They are placed in those." This means allowing disciples who could not understand the absence of inherent birth and death to understand. Moreover, through direct teaching, it implies that others should also guide beings to understand this principle. "For those who have no essence, neither is it other, nor can anyone find it, neither inside nor outside, the protectors are placed in those." This means that no matter who seeks what at any time, they cannot find self-nature and otherness, and beings should be placed in understanding this principle, thereby guiding disciples to generate understanding of the ultimate reality. "The Sugata spoke of the peaceful going, yet no goer can be found, they are said to be liberated from going, and having liberated, they liberate many beings." This means that even those who go to peace cannot be found if sought. Even so, they are liberated from the cycle of the five paths, and after liberating themselves, they guide many other beings to liberation. This means that if analyzed with reason, because it cannot be found, it does not hinder liberation, and those who attain liberation, and attaining liberation through them, etc. Therefore, these reasonings in the first chapter should be understood as the eyes for viewing all scriptures that explain non-arising. The third part is: Briefly explaining the way of clinging to what is to be refuted by this chapter, and how it is established after being refuted by reason, and how to establish cause, condition, and effect on it. When we see seeds and firewood, etc., producing sprouts and flames, etc., and hear that they act in this way, we think that cause and effect are not just names, but that the objects being named exist with their own nature, as the produced and the producer, this clinging is what is to be refuted. If we admit that the object of clinging exists, then analyze the production of the effect, whether it is the same or different in nature from the cause and condition. Analyze the nature of the produced from the perspective of the effect, and whether the condition proves that the effect exists or does not exist when the cause exists, etc., refute the nature of the producer from the perspective of the cause. Therefore, for things that exist with their own nature, there is no room to establish cause, condition, and effect.
