it will not change. This is because if the act of walking exists by its own nature, then a difference in nature must be found from the walker. If this is the case, then the dependence on the walker can be negated, so it will become walking without a walker, because this has already been negated before, so its basis, the walker, does not exist, and because the dependent does not exist, walking does not exist, thus negating that the walker is the basis of the act. The second case is: if walking exists by its own nature, therefore it can be said that the person connected to it is walking. If there is no walking, it would not be said that Devadatta connected to it is walking, just as if there is no pillar, it would not be said that there is a pillar. If this is said, then the meaning of "walking" exists by its own nature, it will not exceed three cases, and it is impossible for the walker to walk, which will be explained later. For the time being, first negate the walker, and then show the order of negating others. That which is not a walker is also not walking, because it is separate from the act of walking. Other than the walker and the non-walker, how could a third party walk? It won't, because that is impossible. The third case is: if the non-walker and neither the walker nor the non-non-walker do not walk, but the walker walks, then, when Devadatta is walking alone, there is only one act of walking, and it also exists in the meaning of the word "walking," and if there is no act of walking as the meaning of the word, then the word walker will not be established, in this case, how can it be established that the meaning of the walker walking exists by its own nature? It will not be established. That is, the word of the agent has meaning, but the word of the actor is empty of meaning. If the act of walking exists in the meaning of the word walker, then, for any opponent who claims that the act of walking exists in the meaning of the word walker, it will be inferred that the walker who does not have the act of walking as the meaning of the word "walking" is walking, because there is only one act of walking, and since it exists in the meaning of the word walker, it is considered that the walker is walking. That is, the word of the actor has meaning, but the word of the agent is empty of meaning. This is also because there is only one act of walking, and that act

If it were established by its own nature, then one word would be meaningful and the other would be empty, as previously stated. If it is thought that both the words "goer" and "goes" have the activity of going as their meaning, then, if the activity of going exists by its own nature in the meaning of both the words "goer" and "goes," then it would follow that there are two similar activities of going each time. That is, the going by which the goer is manifested, that is, the going that is spoken of, and the going that does some activity of going after becoming a goer, these two goings. If that is admitted, then the goer will also become two, as stated before. If even so, there is the term "Devadatta goes," so there is going, then, for what has a term, if it is examined whether it exists in the goer or the non-goer, it has already been examined that it is unreasonable, so that is absurd. For a while, etc., those deny that what goes in "this goes," that is, the goer who goes exists by its own nature. The third has five: First, refuting that the beginning exists; Second, refuting that there is a path to go; Third, refuting that there is an antidote to going; Fourth, refuting the final return; Fifth, refuting the proof of existence. The first is: Going exists by its own nature, because Devadatta abandons sitting and begins to go. If that exists, it will not go beyond the three places of existence, so in the gone where going is completed, there is no beginning of going, because there the activity of going has ceased. In the not-gone where the activity of going has not arrived, there is also no beginning of going, because the future and the present are contradictory. In the step that has the activity of going, there is also no beginning of going, because the step that is neither past nor future, neither gone nor not-gone, does not exist by its own nature. And, if there is an activity of going there, then the activity will become two, and if that is so, the goer will become two. If that is so, then the beginning of going is not seen at all, so where does it say to begin going? Those are the reasons why even if there is a path, the beginning of going is unreasonable. Now, the path itself where going begins will be refuted, before the activity of going begins, when Devadatta is sitting.
