It should be understood by following the teachings that have been exhausted. These matters are very extensive and can be understood from the "Essence of Well-Spoken Discernment of Definitive and Interpretive Meanings." Secondly, just as it is proven by reason that all phenomena lack inherent existence established by their own nature, it is also proven by profound scriptures. To show that all the scriptures that teach in this way will be explained by this treatise, and to symbolize the aspect of combining with definitive scriptures, as stated in the "King of Samadhi Sutra": "All are inconceivable, all are unborn, things and non-things, the wise should abandon. Those who are dominated by their minds, they will suffer in hundreds of millions of births." It also says: "I remember that in countless eons of the past, a lord of men appeared in the world. The great sage accomplished benefit and happiness with a boat, and his name was 'Born from No-Thing.' At the time of birth, he remained in the sky, teaching that all dharmas are without things. At that time, a name was given to him that matched that meaning, and his name became famous throughout the world. All the gods uttered great sounds, and he will become a victor named 'No-Thing.' At the time of birth, he took seven steps, and the victor taught that all dharmas are without things. The Subduer, the teacher of all dharmas, when did he become the king of the Dharma? From the grass, trees, bushes, medicinal mountains, and rocks, there also arose the sound that all dharmas are without things. All the sounds in that world said that there is no thing, nothing at all. In this way, the guide of the world, the variety of sounds, appeared very much." As it is said, the meaning of no-thing is the meaning of no inherent existence. Thirdly, in general, things and non-things, and in particular, one's own things and others' things, and the suchness nature of all dharmas, etc., for these to exist by their own nature, there is nothing that can be established, and one should ascertain the meaning that is directly shown. At that time, indirectly, it is only established as existing by the power of convention, and one should guide in such a way, thinking that all these are very reasonable, and one should guide the certainty of dependent origination in this way. The explanation of the fifteenth chapter, called "Examination of Inherent Existence," which has eleven verses, is completed. Third (chapter name incomplete)

Refutation of Existence by Nature Divided into two parts: the actual meaning and the refutation of its arguments. The first part has three points: explaining the main points of the treatise, combining it with scriptures of definitive meaning, and summarizing the points and indicating the name. The first point has three parts: refuting that samsara and nirvana are established by nature, refuting that bondage and liberation are established by nature, and refuting that striving for the sake of nirvana is futile. The first part has two points: refuting that samsara is established by nature, and refuting that nirvana is established by nature. The first point is: Here it is said that all phenomena exist by nature because samsara exists by nature. If going from one place to another is called samsara, then if phenomena do not exist by nature, then who goes from the previous place to the later place and transmigrates, like the son of a barren woman? The refutation of this is divided into two points: refuting the aggregates as the object to be taken in samsara, and refuting sentient beings as the taker in samsara. The first point has two points: refuting the permanent samsara, and refuting the impermanent samsara. The first point is: If samsara exists by nature, then either the aggregates or sentient beings must transmigrate, and if it is said that the conditioned aggregates transmigrate, then it must be either permanent or impermanent. If it is permanent, then it does not transmigrate, because it is separate from the activity of going and coming, and if it does not come from the previous place and go to the later place, then it contradicts the transmigrator. The second point is: If it is said that the impermanent conditioned aggregates transmigrate, even if it is impermanent, it will not become a transmigrator existing by nature, because the impermanent is destroyed as soon as it is born, and the destroyed things do not transmigrate again. Or it is thought that the conditioned aggregates are the sequence of passing from one cause and effect to another, and only the uninterrupted impermanence transmigrates. In this regard, if the previous and later moments are not distinguished, there are two types of transmigration: the continuous transmigration of following the previous and later, and the transmigration of the separate moments of the previous and later. Now, refuting the latter, first refuting each of the previous and later: the later moment of the fruit that is about to arise cannot be the transmigrator, because it does not come from any previous place, nor does it go to any later place, and the transmigrator needs those two activities. The previous cause that has perished also does not transmigrate, because it does not come from any previous place, and to any later place
