Not being weary of the two, yoga without any differentiation, all Mahayana is exhausted here. Thus it is said. Fifth, the path or method of not being attached to the enjoyment of objects already obtained is generosity, because by being accustomed to giving, one is separated from attachment to it. The method of restraining the distraction of striving to obtain objects not yet obtained is discipline, because all distractions of the edge of karma do not arise from the discipline of a monk. The method of not abandoning sentient beings is patience, because one is not disgusted by all the suffering of harm. The method of increasing virtue is diligence, because it increases from initiating diligence. The method of purifying obscurations is the last two perfections, because meditation purifies afflictive obscurations and wisdom purifies cognitive obscurations. Therefore, it is determined to be the six perfections, for objects are the path of non-attachment, obtaining it is another restraint of distraction, not abandoning sentient beings and increasing, purifying obscurations is another. Thus it is said. Sixth, the essence of the training of discipline is discipline, and if there is generosity that does not look to enjoyment and accepts, then that is the collection of discipline. Having accepted, protecting with patience, such as not scolding back when scolded, that is its retinue. Meditation is the training of the mind, and wisdom is the training of wisdom. Diligence belongs to all three trainings, therefore it is determined to be the six perfections, having established the three trainings, the Victorious One taught the six perfections, the first three, the two aspects of the last two, one also belongs to all three. Thus it is said. Thus, with what kind of perfect basis, what kind of benefit for oneself and others is completely fulfilled, abiding in which vehicle, possessing how many kinds of methods, the basis and benefit of which training to accomplish, and the Great Vehicle and methods and trainings are all fulfilled, and summarized, know that it is the six perfections themselves, and until a great certainty is obtained about the summary of all the key points of the practice of a Bodhisattva, one should contemplate. The second has three, the order of birth, the order of inferior and superior, the order of subtle and coarse. The first is, generosity that does not look to enjoyment and is not attached.

If there is generosity, one should take vows. If one has the discipline to restrain from misdeeds, one will be able to endure harm. If there is patience that does not tire of hardship, one will be able to initiate diligence because there are fewer obstacles. If one practices diligence day and night, one will generate samadhi that can apply the mind to virtue. If the mind is placed evenly, one will realize the truth as it is. The second point is: the former is inferior to the former, and the latter is superior to the latter. The third point is: the former is easier to enter and practice than the latter, so it is coarse; the latter is more difficult to enter and practice than the former, so it is subtle. The Ornament of the Sutras says: The latter arises dependent on the former, because they are in inferior and superior positions, and because of coarse and subtle, these are taught in order. And so on. The third part is divided into two points: the general practice of conduct, and in particular, the practice of the last two perfections. The first part is divided into two points: the perfections that ripen one's own Buddha-dharma, and the four means of gathering that ripen the streams of others. The first part is divided into six points: how to practice generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. The first part is divided into three points: the nature of generosity, its divisions, and how to generate it in the stream. The first point is: the nature of generosity is the virtuous mind of giving, and the actions of body and speech that are aroused by it, that is, the mind at the time when body and speech are engaged in generosity. For this, the perfection of generosity does not depend on giving material things to others and freeing beings from poverty, but on destroying the attachment of stinginess, and on completely habituating the mind to giving away the fruits of abandonment and everything else, from which it becomes the perfection of generosity. The second part is divided into two points: the divisions that depend on their respective bases, and the divisions of the nature of generosity itself. The first point is: in general, material generosity is practiced by lay bodhisattvas, while ordained bodhisattvas should practice Dharma generosity and should not practice material generosity, as stated in the Pratimoksha vows of bodhisattvas. This is also in consideration of becoming an obstacle to hearing and so on, so it is said in the Compendium of Trainings: renunciates are prohibited from striving for material things and giving them away. If one does not harm one's own virtuous activities, and one obtains many material things through the power of past merit,
