If so. Therefore, the distinction between the basis being neither existent, nor both existent, nor non-existent, and non-existent, is merely a difference in wording. Because no matter how much one examines the way both appear in the mind, there is no difference whatsoever. Therefore, saying that this way leads to downfall or not is merely clinging to words. Secondly, if persons and conditioned phenomena are established as unreal by the reasons previously stated, then considering that space, cessation through discrimination, cessation not through discrimination, and suchness, etc., unconditioned phenomena can be established as unreal with little effort. Therefore, the Root Verses state: 'Since the conditioned is not established, how can the unconditioned be established?' The way it is easily established is: If the inherent existence of the conditioned is refuted as before, then even though these are not inherently existent, it is sufficient to establish bondage and liberation, cause and effect, object of measurement and measuring subject, etc., as actions. If that is established, then even though the unconditioned, such as the nature of phenomena and cessation through analysis, is not established as true, it is sufficient to properly establish the designations of what is to be attained on the path, what is to be measured, and the refuge of the trainees, the Dharma Jewel. If these are not accepted as true, then there is no reason to say that these designations that must be established are unreasonable, so there is no need to accept these as true. Even if one thinks these are true, one must also accept the designations of the characteristics and characterized, the cause of separation, the result of separation, and what is measured by this valid cognition, etc. Even if one must accept, one does accept. At that time, if these are not related to their own object of attainment, characteristic, and measuring subject, etc., then it is unavoidable that all unrelated things become characteristics and characterized, etc. If one wants a relationship, then for true existence that is inherently established, it is not permissible to depend on others, so one cannot establish a relationship. Similarly, one should also refute by examining one and different. If this rational investigation cannot refute the view that these are truly established, then it is the same in all respects for the conditioned. Therefore, it will not be possible to refute even a little bit of truth.", "original_tibetan_continued": "གྱི", "chinese_translation_continued": "如果认为有为法自性成立的自性空,是指该法没有该自性的意思,那么就是断灭空。", "english_translation_continued": "If the meaning of the emptiness of inherent existence of conditioned phenomena is that that phenomenon does not have that inherent existence, then it is a nihilistic emptiness.

If one thinks that Suchness has its own essence, therefore it truly exists, then that is the ultimate error of inverting the establishment of emptiness by the nature of conditioned things, and it is a view that slanders the dependent origination of conditioned things. The latter, if it has its own essence, is the unbearable eternalist view of falsely imputing true existence, and therefore it is a wrong entry into the meaning of correct emptiness. If emptiness by its own essence is empty of its own essence, then it is that it does not have itself. What does not have itself cannot exist at all. Some schools assert that some dharmas are truly existent, and the scriptures and reasoning that establish them are also empty of their own essence, which is established by nature. Since the basis is not established, establishing some dharmas as a true tenet is speaking randomly without investigation. Having seen these lines of reasoning well, all the self-schools of the noble land who assert that dharmas are truly established necessarily assert that things are truly established, so they are called "thing-ists." As long as one asserts that things are not truly existent, one does not want any dharma to be truly established, which seems to be a sign that they are far superior to the sophists of this side. Here, those who assert that there are two disagreements about Suchness also agree with the first view that conventional truth is empty of its own essence, which is established by nature. How did the arguments about whether ultimate truth is truly established or not go? This also needs to be well understood from what was said before. Because reasoning refutes the truth of dharmas, and therefore does not admit the truth of things and all dharmas, and because it relies on the error of emptiness in understanding emptiness and asserts that things and all dharmas do not truly exist, the two are not the same in any way. If, as said before, "If conditioned things are not established, then how are unconditioned things established?" If this is the case, then in the Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning it says: "The Buddhas said that nirvana is the only truth, and all others are false. At that time, who among the wise would consider whether the others are not inverted?" Here it says that nirvana is the only truth, and all others are not true. And in the Praise of the Dharmadhatu it also says: "Emptiness is the door of the teacher, all that the Tathagatas have spoken.
