I can prevent it. It is clearly stated as such. Moreover, it must be done by someone who meditates on suchness, so it is said to be a yogi. This principle is also the profound intention of the venerable Nagarjuna. In the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning," it says: "That is the cause of all views, Without that, afflictions do not arise, Therefore, if that is completely known, Views and afflictions are completely eliminated. Who will know that? It is seeing dependent arising, What arises dependently is unborn, That is what the supreme knower has said." Thus, it is taught that the clinging to truth, which is the cause of afflictive views and all other afflictions, is abandoned by realizing the suchness of things that are unborn by their own nature, through the reason of dependent arising. Seeing that self-nature does not exist means that the object of grasping at things as inherently existent is not refuted, and therefore cannot be abandoned. What Arya Deva said in accordance with this has already been quoted earlier. Also, in the "Four Hundred Stanzas," it says: "If one sees the selflessness of objects, The seed of existence will be extinguished." Thus, it is said that ignorance, the root of existence, is cut off by seeing the selflessness of the object grasped by self-grasping. The venerable Shantideva also said: "The selflessness of persons is thus extremely established, Therefore, by cutting its root, all afflictions do not arise at all." In the Secret Sutra of the Blessed Thus-Gone One, it is said: "Peaceful Intelligence, just as if a tree is cut from its root, all its branches, leaves, and twigs will wither. Peaceful Intelligence, similarly, if the view of the aggregates is pacified, then all afflictions and near afflictions will be pacified." And so on. Thus, it is said that by meditating on the realization of emptiness, the emptiness of persons being empty of inherent existence, the view of the aggregates is reversed, and when that is reversed, all other afflictions are reversed. It is impossible to realize selflessness without refuting the object of grasping at a self of persons. That sutra shows that the view of the aggregates is the root of all other afflictions. If that were something other than ignorance, then there would be two incompatible roots of samsara, so that too should be ignorance. In short, explaining the meaning of the profound scriptures

Many wise scholars, when establishing the meaning of Suchness, analyze it with many scriptures and reasonings. This is because they see that if one does not negate the self as apprehended by inverted clinging, and does not see the emptiness of that self, one cannot realize selflessness and emptiness. Therefore, it is very important to find certainty in doing so. In this way, if one does not meditate on the meaning of blocking the object of inversion, which is the root that binds one to samsara, then even if one meditates on other meanings that one considers profound, it will not harm self-grasping at all. This is because it is impossible to reverse self-grasping unless the mind engages in the Suchness of selflessness and emptiness. Furthermore, even if one merely withdraws the mind from its object without eradicating the object of self-grasping, one cannot be said to have engaged in selflessness. The reason for this is that when the mind engages with an object, there are three ways of apprehending it: one is to apprehend the object as true, one is to apprehend it as untrue, and one is to apprehend it without distinguishing between the two. Just as not apprehending something as untrue does not necessarily mean apprehending it as true, not engaging in the two selves does not necessarily mean engaging in the two selflessnesses, because there is an infinite possibility of the mind abiding in the third state. Moreover, the two self-graspings mainly arise by focusing on the substantiality of persons and phenomena. Therefore, it is necessary to determine that the very basis of what is mistaken is non-existent as it is apprehended. Otherwise, it is like tracing the tracks of a thief who has gone into the forest by searching in the meadow. Therefore, meditating on the meaning that has been determined in this way will exhaust delusion. Such emptiness is the supreme meaning of Suchness. If one abandons it and establishes the meaning of Suchness separately, it is merely a fabrication of desire and has strayed from the meaning of the scriptures. Therefore, the ignorance that grasps men, women, and so on, as well as the elaborations of phenomena such as form and feeling, as true, can only be reversed by gaining the view of realizing the emptiness of selflessness and meditating on it. If it is reversed, then the conceptual thoughts of inappropriate attention, which affix characteristics such as like and dislike by focusing on the object of true grasping, will be reversed. If it is reversed, then other afflictions such as attachment, which have the view of the perishable aggregate as their root, will be reversed. If it is reversed, then what is instigated by it
