I can perfect the perfection of generosity. If all of these are abandoned, then in this life one will be constantly clothed by extremely heavy faults, and in future lives one will not want to enter, therefore entering the conduct of a Bodhisattva will be extremely difficult. Furthermore, in the Compendium of Perfections it says: "The root of such generosity is the mind of enlightenment. Such generosity, wanting to give but not giving, among those in the world who have the mind to give, is said by the Victorious Ones to be the best of giving." As it is said, remembering and meditating on the mind of enlightenment, the basis of conduct, and aspiring to enlightenment and making aspirations, is the root of all giving and the best of all giving, therefore one should strive for it. This is the essential point of the meaning requested by Good Arm. Second, the perfection of discipline has five aspects: the nature of discipline, the method of entering into its cultivation, the detailed classification of discipline, how to act when accomplishing them, and the summary of their meaning. First, the mind of renunciation that turns the mind away from harming others, along with its basis, is discipline. Therefore, the habit of that mind becomes more and more complete, and it becomes the perfection of discipline. It is not that the perfection of discipline is completed by placing all sentient beings in the external world away from harm. If that were not the case, then because sentient beings have not yet been separated from harm, the Victorious Ones of the past would not have perfected the perfection of discipline, and they would not be able to lead those sentient beings in the direction of being separated from harm. Therefore, whether all sentient beings in the external world are separated from harm or not, it is sufficient, but the practice of discipline is to make the mind of renunciation, which turns away from harming them, habitual in one's own mind. As it is said in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "Where can one place, fish and other beings, so that they will not be killed? It is said that the perfection of discipline is attained, from obtaining the mind of renunciation." Thus. There are three types of discipline, but here, mainly from the perspective of the discipline of vows, it is said to be the mind of renunciation. This is also from the perspective of having intention, it is not good.

This is the abandonment of abandoning ten (non-virtues). From the perspective of its own nature, it is the abandonment of seven non-virtues, the nature of the actions of body and speech, the abandonment of seven. As it says in the commentary on the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life": Because it does not accept afflictions, does not produce sins, and the fire of attachment is extinguished in the heart, it feels cool, or because it is the cause of happiness, it is what the holy ones should rely on, this is discipline. It also has the characteristics of abandoning seven. These three dharmas, namely non-attachment, non-hatred, and correct view, are the causes of all these. Therefore, from the perspective of the causes and the discipline that possesses the causes, the ten paths of action are explained. So it is said. Second, after generating the mind of enlightenment in this way, promising to learn the conduct means promising to make all sentient beings possess the adornment of the discipline of complete and perfect enlightenment, so its meaning must be accomplished. And this also requires first generating the power of one's own discipline being completely pure. If one's own discipline is not pure or broken, one will fall into the lower realms, let alone benefit others, even one's own benefit cannot be accomplished. Therefore, because of diligence in benefiting others, one should not relax in cherishing discipline, and one must be very strict in guarding. As it says in the "Compendium of Perfections": In order to make all sentient beings possess the adornment of the discipline of complete and perfect enlightenment, if one is diligent in this, one must first completely purify one's own discipline, and also generate the power of the purity of discipline. It also says: If discipline is broken, even one's own benefit cannot be accomplished, how can there be power to benefit others? Therefore, by diligently striving to benefit others well, one should not relax in respecting this. So it is said. In this way, the complete purity of discipline also depends on taking up the places of entering and returning as they are in reality. And this also follows the strong and firm intention to guard, and through long-term meditation on the faults of not guarding and the benefits of guarding, one should generate the intention to guard. First, as it says in it: Therefore, one should see the unpleasant fear, and even the smallest thing that should be abandoned, one should completely abandon. So it is said. Fearing because of faults.
