Therefore, in the sequential guidance for meditating on a Bodhisattva, some selections and rejections were made, and merely meditating on the syllable (ཧཱུཾ,Hūṃ, hūṃ, seed syllable) was what was previously taken. However, the contemplation described by Dharma is not different. So, if one practices the meditation method described earlier, how can one unmistakably experience the signs of life entering the central channel? This is extremely important. Many other descriptions of signs seem to be merely superficial. Therefore, the reliable sign that can be ascertained through experience is this. When you can endure it, identify the moment when the air has just shifted in either of your nostrils. Then, through the strength of maintaining the body posture and mental focus as before, it won't be long before you observe that the air flows equally through the nostrils. Even if it only happens once or twice, if there are no other obstacles, it will definitely occur frequently. Moreover, the equal flow will not be such that one side is strong and the other weak, but rather that the strength of both sides flows equally. If this occurs, it can be considered that through the power of that yoga, one is able to inject life force into the central channel. However, once it has entered, it will not alternate between left and right. This is the entry of life into the central channel. Abiding in the central channel, from this point onwards, meditate diligently. Carefully observe the final state where the airflow in the nostrils becomes weak. The subtle airflow will also cease. If it is difficult to determine how it ceases, when the body is upright, motionless, and resting comfortably, observe whether the abdomen moves or not. If it moves slightly, that is a sign that it has not ceased. This observation is especially important for determining whether the downward-clearing air below the navel is entering and exiting the nostrils. The cessation of subtle airflow in the nostrils is either easy or difficult. If it is difficult to stop, the abdomen will fill with air for a moment, and then it will calm down. Immediately after calming down, a special warmth will arise from the non-abiding places of the navel and secret place. Then, gradually guide the melting bliss. The cessation of subtle airflow in the nostrils can also occur in someone who has accumulated small offerings of immersion, and in whom the immersed part is greater. Therefore, without being skilled in pressing the center of the chakras, one has done many vase breath meditations, but is unable to make the life force enter the central channel, causing the air channels to wander to other places.

Even if one does not let the air come in and out, and does not hold it inside, it is still not entering or dissolving into the Dūti, so those differences must be well distinguished. Even if the air dissolves into the Dūti, there will still be many instances where the air rises again and flows through the channels. At this time, the ways in which the four emptinesses and four joys arise, and other such thoughts, will be explained below. The second part has two aspects: how to do Vajra recitation, and the experiences that arise from meditating in this way. The first is: When you have found a stable state of mind at the navel Nāda mentioned earlier, it is very important to meditate on Vajra recitation, so do it that way. For this, the three key points of body, air, and time are the same as before. The key point of the object is to visualize the syllable Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hūṃ) or red and white Nāda on top of the red and white moons in the center of the navel chakra's Dūti, and then let the air rise from there, enter, and stay there. That is, when the air enters, think that the sound of the air from within the Dūti comes as the sound of the syllable Oṃ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ།, Devanagari: ओं, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal meaning: Oṃ), and place the Nāda of the Hūṃ syllable of the navel into it. From there, hold it for the duration of any one of the rising or entering breaths, and think of its own sound as the sound of the syllable Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal meaning: Āḥ). Then, when going out from the Hūṃ syllable or Nāda inside the Dūti, also think of going out from inside the Dūti, and at that time, think that the sound of the air itself comes as the sound of the syllable Hūṃ, and without falling into the Vajra recitation of the mind recitation of the generation stage, fix your mind on the sound of the air and the sound of the three mantras being indistinguishable, and do the Vajra recitation. If the three of rising, entering, and staying are not done from within the central channel, but simply doing Vajra recitation by going in and out from within the abdomen, no matter how much effort is made, it is impossible to actually generate co-emergent wisdom from the three of entering, staying, and dissolving, which are putting the life force into the central channel. This is because the key point of Vajra recitation has not been truly understood. Doing Vajra recitation from the central channel is the essence of the instructions. For this, it is also necessary to keep awareness sharp and not separate from alertness. If this is not done, and awareness is weak, accumulating subtle dullness, even if a state of mind arises where the air does not come in and out of the nostrils, it will greatly harm the collection of the life force into the Dūti.
