Because it is as explained above. Therefore, in the root tantra, at the very end of the compilation of the four-faced deity's mantra, it says, "Truly endowed with the four wrathful ones, in an instant, transforms into eight bodies." Etc., as quoted before, it should be understood that this also shows this meaning. Secondly, starting from the east in a clockwise direction, and from the fire direction in a counterclockwise direction, and focusing on above and below, in the manner of commanding the wrathful mothers, reciting each phurba-nailing mantra such as Om Ghagha, etc., first, the phurba is inserted into the crown of the heads of all obstacles. As it says in the Abhisamayalankara, "With the vajra phurba, one strikes and presses down on the brains of all obstacles. This is the method of arising and reversing." Then, the sequence of striking is also as explained before, in that sequence, reciting each striking mantra such as Om Vajra Mungara, etc., first, with the vajra hammer in the right hand, it is struck so that it penetrates from the crown of the head to the sole of the foot. Translating it this way is good. During these times, doing it with the pride of oneself as Hum is the method of the Abhisamayalankara; doing it with the pride of the two-armed Heruka is the view of the Chakrasamvara and Ghantapa. The three commentaries on this and the method of the 'Error Correction' are also in accordance with this. Regarding the meaning of the phurba-nailing mantra, Om is the same as before. Ghagha is Ghata Gha, which is called 'the slayer.' Ghataya, the two, are cursing, 'Cut them down!' Who? Sarva is all, and Dusta is the unruly. Phat is the seed syllable that makes that meaning clear. Kilaya, the two, are 'Obtain with the phurba and make it unmoving!' Sarva Papam is all those with sinful thoughts. Phat is suppressed. The three Hums are urging that very nature. Vajra Kilaya is calling upon the vajra phurba. Vajra Dhara Ajnapaya means 'Listen to the command of Vajradhara,' that is, blessing oneself as Vajradhara and then giving the command. Kaya Vaka Citta is the three of body, speech, and mind, which is done to the obstacles. Vajra Kilaya is the same as before. Hum Phat is urging again. This is what is said in the Lamp Illuminating, and there are slight differences in the various examples. In the translation of Mardo and Chag, the prefix of Dusta in the first mantra is Vighna.

There is none. The second mantra does not have Oṃ (ༀ, Devanagari: ॐ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: oṃ) at the beginning, and both have two Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ) and Phaṭ (ཕཊ, Devanagari: phaṭ, Romanized Sanskrit: phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: phaṭ) at the end. The third mantra has three Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ) at the beginning, and after Pāyāti, there is Sarva Duṣṭā Vighnān (སརྦ་དུཥྚཱ་བིགྷ་ནཱན, Devanagari: sarva duṣṭā vighnān, Romanized Sanskrit: sarva duṣṭā vighnān, Literal Chinese meaning: all evil obstacles). The rest is the same as when explaining the meaning of the mantra. In "Error Correction," the first mantra does not have Vighnān, and after Duṣṭā, there is Pra Duṣṭā, and the second mantra has Oṃ (ༀ, Devanagari: ॐ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: oṃ) at the beginning. The rest is the same as before. From which tantras were these extracted? Mainly from the "Nomenclature," and its various translations, "Manifestation of the Vajravārāhī," and the translations of various Sādhanas, there are many similarities and differences. Vajra Mudgara is a vajra hammer. Vajra Kīlaya is the same as before. Akoṭaya is to strike. At the end of this mantra, from the translations of Mardo, Lotsāwa, and Chak, one Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ) and one Phaṭ (ཕཊ, Devanagari: phaṭ, Romanized Sanskrit: phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: phaṭ) appear, while in some "Nomenclatures," each of these two appears twice. Thus, by planting and striking the phurba, contemplate that all obstacles are transformed into the essence of indivisible bliss and emptiness, becoming one taste. Then, by the Crow-faced Mother and others, drive the obstacles far away, and at the time of the dissolution of the four-sided vajra fence, just as when water strikes water, droplets scatter outwards, contemplate the three circular fences of vajra, lotus, and wheel for the purpose of binding the boundaries. Outside of that, contemplate a burning mountain of fire, and contemplate that all the vajra fences and so on mentioned earlier have become one piece without any gaps. And, make a firm resolve that all beings are completely free from obstacles in every way. From the "Sādhana Jewel Crest": The blazing rays of light emanating from the eight gate mothers, in the form of iron hooks, draw back the fleeing obstacles, put them into the pit, and look at them with vajra eyes, reciting the mantra "Gha Gha" and so on, commanding the phurba to stand firm. When the phurba is inserted into the crown of the obstacles, recite the mantra of striking, strike with the hammer, and by planting the phurba, attain great bliss. The gate mothers transform into blazing rays of light, dissolving into the net of arrows, and scattering outwards in the manner of water striking water, forming a circular vajra fence, from which light emanates, forming a lotus fence, from which a wheel fence is formed, and from which a vajra fire blazes upwards and sideways.
