Meditate on them as having various colors and facing downwards. First, clearly visualize the three channels and focus your mind on these three. In this, except for visualizing and slightly focusing on the parts above the heart, most of the time you should focus only on the place where the three channels of the navel converge, and in the central channel where the three channels converge four fingers below the navel. Second, visualize the letters clearly and then meditate: there are two ways to place the letters, extensive and concise. The extensive way is to place the letters on both the center and the petals of the four chakras and then meditate, but here we mainly use the concise way, which is to meditate on four letters in the center of the four chakras. The method is: in the center of the navel chakra, the emanation wheel, in the central channel close to the inner side of the spine, visualize a small moon disc with a red short A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཐུང་།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, literal meaning: A) letter, the size of a mustard seed, shaped like a vertical line. In the center of the heart chakra, the dharma wheel with eight petals, located directly in the middle of the two breasts, close to the spine in the dūtī channel, visualize a blue Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, literal meaning: Hūṃ) letter on a moon disc, facing downwards, which is the bodhicitta, dripping like snow, the size of a mustard seed. In the center of the throat chakra, the enjoyment wheel with sixteen petals, in the central channel from the center of the throat close to the inner side of the spine in the dūtī channel, visualize a red Oṃ (Tibetan: ༀ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, literal meaning: Oṃ) letter on a moon disc, facing upwards, the size of a mustard seed. In the center of the crown chakra, the great bliss wheel with thirty-two petals, in the central channel, visualize a white Haṃ (Tibetan: ཧཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हं, Sanskrit Romanization: haṃ, literal meaning: Haṃ) letter on a moon disc, facing downwards, the size of a mustard seed. All four letters have a crescent moon, a dot, and a nāda on top. Meditating on them as having the form of bodhicitta dripping like water will bring great bliss. If you meditate on them as having a very bright light, it will be easy to cut off dullness and make the samādhi clear and vivid. The way to focus on these letters is not to look from yourself outwards, but to cultivate as if the mind is blended into the letters. The way to focus the mind should not be too tight or too loose, because that will cause agitation and dullness, so avoid these two extremes, and the way to focus the mind should be slightly stronger. Especially above the heart,

First, take each of the three syllables ི་, གེ, and གེ for a short period of time. Mostly, focus on the short अ (Tibetan: ཨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: अं) at the navel. If it seems difficult to hold the mind on a subtle object, make it slightly larger, and when it is stable, make the object subtle and hold the mind. Second, the method of meditating on vase breathing: As it is said in the instructions of the lamas: "Inhaling, filling, suppressing, shooting like an arrow, these are the four." As it says, when inhaling, do not inhale through the mouth, but inhale strongly and for a long time through the nostrils. At the moment of inhaling, do not exhale, but press inward, and imagine that the air goes hissing from the two ro-kyang channels, and the two channels are filled tightly, like intestines being blown up. When the two channels are full, imagine that all the air from the two channels is poured into the central channel, then swallow a saliva silently, and press the upper air at the short अ (Tibetan: ཨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: अं) position. Then draw a gentle lower air from the two lower doors to the short अ (Tibetan: ཨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: अं) position, focus on the short अ (Tibetan: ཨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: अं) where the two airs meet, and hold the breath as long as you can bear it. If you cannot bear it, do not force it, and when you exhale, imagine that it moves comfortably and smoothly upward in the central channel, and do not imagine that it comes out from the crown of the head. Do not focus on filling the neck and chest. When the air naturally stays in the center of the wheel, you can lengthen the duration and press harder. Before that, do not practice for too long without interruption, but rest and meditate occasionally. In this way, when the vase breathing practice is proficient, while practicing vase breathing, as before, clearly visualize the four syllables अ (Tibetan: ཨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: अं), Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: हुं), Oṃ (Tibetan: ༀ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: ॐ), and Haṃ (Tibetan: ཧཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हं, Sanskrit Romanization: haṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: हं) at the center of the navel, heart, throat, and crown chakras. Then, imagine that the air residing in the secret place chakra stimulates the fire, and the flame of the short अ (Tibetan: ཨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: अं) syllable, which is the nature of tummo, rises upward from the dhūtī channel, causing the three syllables Haṃ (Tibetan: ཧཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हं, Sanskrit Romanization: haṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: हं), Oṃ (Tibetan: ༀ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: ॐ), and Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: हुं) to melt and descend onto the short अ (Tibetan: ཨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: अं) syllable at the navel, becoming inseparable from it, and look at it as the short अ (Tibetan: ཨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: अं) syllable of the nature of coemergent bliss, and hold the mind on it. When the mind is fixed on it, imagine that from that short अ (Tibetan: ཨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अं, Sanskrit Romanization: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: अं) syllable, the small flame of tummo burns like a single tongue of fire. Imagine that its light illuminates the bodhicitta from the position of the upper chakra.
