. It definitely becomes a vessel. Without empowerment, there is no accomplishment, Like squeezing oil from sand. If someone, with scripture and arrogance, Explains without empowerment, Teacher and student, immediately after death, Even if they attain accomplishment, will go to hell. Therefore, with all effort, Request the meaning of empowerment from the lama. Also, in the second chapter of the Vajra Garland Tantra, it says: Empowerment is the main thing, All accomplishments always abide. I will explain the meaning as it is, therefore, listen carefully at first. Initially, when the disciple is mature, If the wise one bestows the correct empowerment, For the yoga of the completion stage, At that time, one becomes a vessel. If one is devoid of correct empowerment, Even if the practitioner knows the meaning of the tantra, Teacher and student alike, The unfortunate one will go to great hell. Thus it is said, therefore, being suitable as a vessel for explaining and meditating on the great secret depends on obtaining pure empowerment. Empowerment is the root of accomplishment; without it, even if one understands the meaning of the tantra and strives on the path, it is impossible to obtain special accomplishments. Not only is there fault in not obtaining it, but even if one obtains a small accomplishment, both teacher and student will go to hell. Regarding empowerment, in the Root Tantra of Chakrasamvara, it says: Without seeing the mandala, the mantra practitioner, Whoever considers himself a yogi, Is like striking the sky with a fist, And like drinking the water of a mirage. Thus it is said, therefore, one must first enter the mandala and see the mandala, and then fully bestow empowerments such as water and crown. If it is not like that, but one relies only on a part of the empowerment and the blessing-permission of each deity, if one has previously received other pure empowerments, there is no harm, but if one has not previously received other pure empowerments, these alone cannot accomplish the meaning of empowerment. Therefore, the complete empowerment spoken of in the pure tantras, which has also been well explained by pandits and siddhas, should be transmitted in succession from the noble lamas, thereby making the continuum a vessel. Moreover, if one bestows empowerments such as Hevajra or Chakrasamvara here, it is good because they are closely related to these. Second, what is shown is that one must keep the vows. At the time of obtaining such pure empowerment, with the lama and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas as witnesses, as it is said

One must thoroughly understand the boundaries of the vows and precepts that one has committed to uphold in the practice of the deity, and one must protect them properly. As it is said in the Root Tantra of Chakrasamvara: "The practitioner of utmost equanimity should always keep the vows. By breaking the vows, in the mandala, empowerment and accomplishment will not be attained." And as it is said in the Samputa Tantra: "One who has not entered the mandala and has abandoned all vows, and does not know the secret suchness, will not achieve anything even if they practice diligently." Thus, it is said that without receiving the empowerment that precedes entering the mandala, and abandoning the vows to be protected, and not being skilled in understanding the secret points of the two stages, one will not achieve any desired accomplishments even if one practices for a long time. Therefore, having committed to being a practitioner of Anuttarayoga, it is not acceptable not to know how many root downfalls there are in that system, so it is very important to protect the root and branch vows after thoroughly understanding their boundaries. Second, the special preliminary practices are, in general, the best of the preliminary practices are: combining with the common path, bestowing pure empowerments, and properly protecting the root and branch vows, so one must gain certainty about these. Guru yoga, Vajrasattva practice and recitation, and offering mandalas, etc., also arise from within the scope of protecting the precepts of mantra. However, in the practices of the lamas, there are two ways in which these are explained as appearing separately: to practice Vajrasattva meditation and recitation in order to purify sins and obscurations, and to cultivate guru yoga and make offerings in order to receive blessings. First, one must first integrate the refuge in the Three Jewels with unwavering conviction into one's mindstream. Just as one has fallen into the ocean of samsara, one should view all sentient beings as being the same, and these beings are not unrelated to oneself, but have alternately benefited oneself, are benefactors who have eliminated harm, and in order to repay them, one must generate a firm mind of gratitude. Then, contemplate the ways in which they lack happiness and are tormented by suffering, and resolve that in any way possible, one will lead them to all happiness and liberate them from all suffering.
