The two, the near attainment and accomplishment, the four-limbed means tantra, the non-abiding nirvana Vajradhara or the body of union, what others cannot seize is the fruit tantra, as said by Naropa. The tantra of meaning is divided into three. Shantipa and Atisha say that the cause tantra is the nature of mind. The sound that expresses those three as what is to be said is also called tantra, here referring to the latter. The translation of "Samvara Tantra" into "Supreme Bliss" is because it is considered that the Sanskrit "sam" is happiness and "vara" is supreme. From the latter part of the union tantra, it says: "Then it should be expressed with the words of vows, sam is happiness, vara means especially supreme." Just as it is said. The meaning of Samvara, both this and the previous two must be known. The abridged version is spoken by abridging the words from the extensive root tantra. Second, Bhagavan and auspicious are easy to understand. The "Union Tantra" says: "Vajra is said to be emptiness, the mind is only wisdom, those who have achieved self-nature are called Vajrasattva." As it is said, the ultimate Vajra emptiness and the mind wisdom are integrated into one achievement, to this prostration is the prostration of the translator. Third, there are two, first the reason for not directly saying "Thus I have heard" etc., is actually the explanation of the meaning of the words. First, if you ask why this tantra does not say "Thus I have heard" etc. at the beginning, it is because Kalden Drakpa extracted this tantra from the hundred thousand verse extensive version, where it said "Thus I have heard" etc., so this later version of the tantra does not say that. Another explanation is because the teacher proclaimed it from the non-abiding nirvana, and another explanation is because for the inexpressible nature of reality, the speaker and what is to be said are regarded as one, so it does not say "Thus I have heard" etc., and another explanation is that without "Thus I have heard" etc., it shows the Mahayana like naming. After listing four other sectarian views, one's own view is that because the first Buddhas did not cut off the lineage, this Dharma category is an unbroken lineage from the beginning, existing earlier than Shakyamuni Buddha. "A hundred thousand myriads of Buddhas, myriads of Buddhas have well proclaimed." It is said like this. Its meaning is that the kalpa burned by the power of time

etc. When the Prajnaparamita Sutras and others disappeared, Shakyamuni Buddha re-expounded them. The Chakrasamvara is not like that, because the Buddha's inexpressible realms are practiced and maintained continuously, so it is said. Regarding the first view, some Tibetans refute by saying that, as stated in the Two Examinations Tantra, which is condensed from the extensive Tantra of the Five Deities of Heruka, "Thus it is said," etc. If this Tantra, which is condensed and separately taught from the hundred thousand verses, also says this, what contradiction is there? To this, merely using the fact that it is a condensed Tantra condensed from the extensive Tantra as a reason, if it is thought that the extensive Tantra does not separately teach "Thus it is said," etc., then that fault would apply, but merely using that as a reason is not valid. What is it then? From the beginning of the Tantra, "Then, the secret will be explained." Because the word "Then" appears at the beginning, it means that this is a continuation of the previous Tantra. The meaning of not teaching "Thus it is said," etc., from such a condensed Tantra is not that if it is a Tantra condensed from the extensive Tantra, then "Thus it is said," etc., is not spoken. In Lavapa's commentary, it is also said that the word "Then" indicates that it is the end of the previous Tantra. Therefore, obstructing this view as before is obstructing without fully understanding the previous view. Also, some Tibetans say that Lavapa said in the three hundred thousand verses of the Chakrasamvara Root Tantra, "Thus I have heard," and this Tantra is a later one condensed from that, so it is not said. This statement is unreasonable, because the extensive Root Tantra in the Vimalaprabha says that there is no "Thus I have heard." Therefore, saying that this extensive Tantra with "Thus I have heard" is a later one condensed from it, so "Thus I have heard" is not mentioned here, is, as said before, not understanding the previous view at all. Moreover, there is no contradiction between saying that the one hundred thousand verses of the Vimalaprabha's Abhidhanottara do not have "Thus I have heard," etc., and saying that the three hundred thousand verses of the Abhidhanottara do have it, because it has already been explained that there are two different sources for the extensive Tantra. Therefore, it is very inappropriate to criticize the great Indian Siddhas like Lavapa, who wears layman's clothes. This condensed Tantra also does not have clear words like "Thus I have heard," etc., but exists in an unclear way.
