Starting to walk without investigation is like wanting to go to the other side of the ocean, but advancing blindly without asking people familiar with the road beforehand. Therefore, the teacher shows that before practicing the oral instructions, one must understand its meaning well. Know that, as mentioned earlier, it is difficult to find a teacher in the degenerate age who can explain by combining the root and commentary. Seeing that the oral instructions obtained by such a teacher combining the root and commentary tantras are written down, they can be preserved for a long time. Therefore, the holy fathers and sons composed many treatises on the oral instructions of the two stages, such as the Five Stages and the Compendium of Conduct, etc. These are all the ultimate key points of the oral instructions that must be learned from the mouth of the teacher in order to obtain the meaning of the tantras. These things themselves are the ultimate oral instructions, but people in the degenerate age cannot understand them, because the power of wisdom gradually weakens from the previous era to the degenerate age. But it is not that the ultimate key points of the oral instructions are not clear there. These treatises not only do not hide the meaning like the root tantras, but also clearly explain the hidden meaning. However, due to the influence of the times, people's wisdom has become unclear, so the treatises have also become unclear. In order to understand these, commentaries that explain the meaning of the words of these treatises very clearly have also been created, as well as side texts of oral instructions that do not actually do so, but in order to understand their meaning. The second point is that, if so, then in order to distinguish well the essence of the stages of guidance made by the holy people of Tibet, one must combine well the root and commentary tantras, study the Five Treatises of the Holy Fathers and Sons and their branches for a long time, and also study well the oral instructions that come from the side branches. Jowo Gö composed the famous Great Empty Thun, which explained in detail the oral instructions of both of these stages. Now, the tradition of the oral instructions from Naropa to Marpa the Translator seems to be slightly stronger. For this, there is a five-stage guidance text called "The Light of the Lama's Words Appearing, Using the Pretext of Lama Marpa," which is consistent with those who take the false tantra of the Two Inseparables as a measure and give explanations of the single tantra. The oral instructions of the Marpa tradition.

If something appears inconsistent with the scriptures, it does not seem to have been authored by that lama. There are two traditions of transmission from Tsurton to Gadpawa. The instructional manuals authored by Serlingpa, and the explanations that clarify the condensed five stages of other transmissions, are consistent in content. Among them, the root verses of this oral instruction of the Marpa tradition, as previously explained, are the clarification of the condensed five stages. Serlingpa also seems to rely on this. Regarding the collection of oral instructions of the Compendium authored by Serlingpa, the emergence of entering cities, transference of consciousness, and the practice of tummo, etc., which come from the Yogini Tantra, is because the condensed five stages have a basis for these, and thus they are discussed. The reason for explaining these in that scripture will be explained below. Other oral instructions of the Compendium, both coarse and subtle, appear in many forms, but the main ones are: the Five Stages with Five Meanings, the Four Meanings, the Five Stages with Complete Seat, and the One with Wheels, these four. These are instructional manuals that fully show all the essential points of the five stages of this tradition. In the past, the lamas did not write down the complete instructional manuals, but transmitted them orally. Among them, for the first four essential points of the former, since the texts of the oral instructions exist separately, only the chapter divisions are made in that scripture, and no explanation is given. Only the fifth essential point, the practice of the two stages on a single seat, which is related to the signs of the path, is shown. Therefore, that is the oral instruction for practicing the five stages on a single seat. The Four Meanings shows the practitioner, the place, the companions, and the actual instructions, and the content of the actual instructions is the same as the former. The Five Stages with Complete Seat, which is known as the essence of the Father Tantra, says: The instructions have six meanings: generation and completion on a single seat, cutting off the root of ignorance by entering and reversing, transforming bliss into the path, and tummo, transference of consciousness, and entering cities. Thus, showing the six meanings, it is one that shows all the essential points of the Marpa tradition's Compendium oral instructions, but the main thing is the practice of the five stages on a single seat. The One with Wheels shows the five stages, but the name is given to the practice of visualizing the mantra wheel in the heart. It is said that this is the oral instruction for completing the five stages on a single seat as the One with Wheels. Ess
