It is clearly stated that it must be generated in the continuum. The Ngok lineage people, although they explain the order of existence and destruction as the basis for practice in both stages, do not make distinctions of the three bodies and five stages at the base stage. The Marpa lineage people, from the summary of the five stages, explain existence and one day, placing them on one seat. Because it is said in this way, the three, birth, death, and bardo, are called the three bodies, and the vajra recitation etc. at the base stage are called the five stages, which is very good. Doing so is for the purpose of generating the order of existence and death of the base in the continuum of the path, so it is necessary. Although they call it that way, if they do not know that necessity, and only explain the instructions of death dharmakaya etc. as practicing only at the time of death and bardo, and if they make the terminology of the five stages of the base different from what was said before, it is not good. The meaning of establishing the five stages in one day is: Some Marpa lineage people say that the wind entering and exiting in one day is vajra recitation, the natural conceptualization dissolving into the heart is mind focus, sleep is luminosity, dream is illusory body, and waking up is union. In general, this practice of making the instructions of sleep and dreams into the instructions of the noble lineage, unless one knows how to explain it based on the Compendium of Practices, it is not clearly explained in any of the noble lineage's scriptures. In the Lamp Illuminating, a quote from the Compendium of Practices is cited, but it is only a citation. If one does according to that view, the vajra recitation is the same as before. From the beginning of sleep until the dream appears, the first three of the four emptinesses that appear are mind focus, and the fourth luminosity is also called sleep dharmakaya. It is not just the appearance of dreams, but there is a special dream body, which is the stage of the illusory body, and this is also called dream sambhogakaya. This can also represent the illusory body of the third and fifth stages. Then waking up is nirmanakaya, and this also has a special way of waking up that is not just waking up. The followers of the five fathers and sons, the other Indians mentioned earlier, although they did not explain the five stages of existence and destruction, the three bodies of the base, and the five stages of one day, but in the oral instructions of Naropa

Therefore, the young (yogin) must understand the intent of all the previously stated treatises. If one understands well how to establish the five stages on the basis, one will gain great certainty about the key points of the blending instructions, so it is explained here. Secondly, like this, practicing the two illusory bodies from just the winds and mind, is like practicing the intermediate state. Therefore, the four emptinesses before that must also be practiced like the four emptinesses at the time of death. Regarding this, the Vajramala Tantra says: "When the winds dissolve completely, whoever truly knows this, knows the characteristic of the moment of death, they gather together truly, and dissolve according to the order of birth." This means that just as the order of appearance at birth, at the time of death, it dissolves gradually from the bottom up. Again, in the same tantra it says: "The afflicted mind and life-wind, always move truly. At the time of the first transference, it becomes like the shape of a fish." This means that at the time of the first transference, the life-sustaining wind forms, and from that, the nine winds such as downward-clearing form in sequence. It also says: "The life-wind dwells in the heart." This means that the life-sustaining wind dwells in the heart. Therefore, at the time of death, the winds and mind gather in the heart. The noble Asanga also said that initially, the place where consciousness enters in the center of the parents' sperm and blood is the heart, and then the various parts of the body form, and finally at the time of death, consciousness comes out from the heart. This is consistent with that tantra. The Samputa and other treatises say that at the time of death, consciousness transfers from the nine doors such as the eyes and ears, which is not contradictory. Because the main support of the mind is the heart, consciousness will not transfer from other doors until it comes out from the indestructible place of the heart. Moreover, when those tantras speak of the transference instructions, they also say to learn the yoga of extracting consciousness from the heart. Therefore, one should perform the five stages of the basis as they are, meditate on the indestructible place in the heart, and with the heart as the target, perform the vajra recitation of the three aspects of wind arising, dwelling, and ceasing. In this way, the winds reverse their outward and inward movement and gradually dissolve into the heart, after which the four emptinesses arise, and the winds and mind that exist within the gross body are merely
