Having heard what the newly initiated Bodhisattvas said, the Tathagatas gathered around the Blessed One, seeing that the Blessed One's intention was not fully understood, pretended not to understand, in order to collect the truthful answers, and to establish the place of that teaching, therefore, they spoke of "thereafter" etc., which should be connected to "the Blessed One spoke thus." The meaning of "inexpressible" etc. has already been explained in the first chapter. "Son of the lineage" etc. is the answer. "Son of the lineage" is a form of address, lineage is the Vajra lineage etc., and those Bodhisattvas are born from those lineages, therefore they are sons of the lineage. The negative and inferior thoughts arising from doubt about the vows of killing etc. are inferior thoughts. The thought of being condemned by the world is the thought of condemnation, do not generate these two kinds of thoughts just mentioned, that is, do not do it, this is the prohibition. In order to show the fault of generating inferior thoughts, therefore, it was said, "What is the reason for that?" etc. For what reason should one not do that? Therefore, it was said, "Son of the lineage" etc., for example, the conduct of mantra is the most excellent of conduct, compared to the conduct of the Shravakas etc., the conduct of the Bodhisattva is the most excellent of conduct, for the conduct of the Bodhisattva, it can be contradictory to the world like "one should kill," or it can be non-contradictory to the world like "one should abandon killing." In whatever way the benefit of beings can be perfectly accomplished, the mantra practitioners enter into that way as much as they can, this is the conduct of the Bodhisattva. Therefore, even entering into killing etc., one can accomplish great benefit for beings, if one slanders, one will accumulate sins. For example, the conduct of mantra is the conduct of the Tathagata, from which teachers one receives the transmission, merely repeating and reciting those transmissions, therefore it is mantra, it is a person like a jewel. The conduct of those people.

Conduct is the realization of the complete stage. Having attained it, whatever does not abide in equanimity, but engages in activities that contradict the world through post-meditation practices, that itself is the conduct of the Tathagata. Because by engaging in conduct such as attachment, in this very life one can completely transform one's own coarse body and thereby attain the body of wisdom. Therefore, after briefly explaining the meaning of the two conducts, in order to prove that this conduct is supreme by distinguishing the two truths, it is said, "Son of lineage, for example," and so on. The phrase "this, this, for example," and so on, should be used like the word "for example." Its meaning is that instead of saying "this, for example" unclearly, "for example" is used to clearly explain the specific meaning. "For example" is the source of all words, and "for example" deeply penetrates into things. Space is the ultimate truth, and phenomena are established by their own nature, it is the emptiness of emptiness. Following all phenomena is following and pervading all dependent arising phenomena. All phenomena refer to the aggregates, elements, and sense bases. These phenomena also belong to space, because the nature of phenomena and their characteristics are inseparable. The phrase "does not abide in the desire realm" and so on, explains this meaning in detail. Because of desiring and seeking forms and so on, it is desire, namely the Four Great Kings and other desire gods. Holding onto these is the realm, namely the place. The aggregates and so on of these also do not abide there, because the desire realm also belongs to the ultimate truth. Whatever existence is attached to form alone, that is the form realm. The word "only" cuts off attachment to desirable qualities. Whatever existence is free from attachment to form, only consciousness, the word "only" cuts off the difference in essence between external objects and consciousness, but does not abandon the wind that carries consciousness, because the two are of the same essence there. That dwelling place is the formless realm, and in those places, phenomena such as aggregates do not exist.
