That is, practicing with meditation. How to practice the deity's body that has been meditated upon with meditation, not thinking of many forms, but abiding in one form, is to practice with samadhi, and samadhi is said to be the one-pointedness of mind. Moreover, it is said in the later meditation: Meditate with the form-consciousness of mantra, abide in samadhi after restraining, restrain life and effort thoroughly. The first sentence of what was said like that, and the two sentences of abiding in samadhi, show two ways of practice, and the rest say that when practicing with samadhi, restrain life effort. The order is like this, like the mantra that is said, having the essential points of the body, without generating other discriminations, gradually meditate between the forms of the deities, first of all, one must generate the pride of oneself as the clear deity. Then, the wind that comes in and out from the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, navel, male and female sexual organs, and the impure orifices, hair, and pores is life, and effort is the memory of other objects and the mind is distracted on them, therefore, these two must be restrained, like this, preventing exhalation and inhalation, the wind that is lifted upwards, like a turtle retracting its limbs and a tongue drinking water, all the breaths of the body circulate, and the mind that is not equally abiding, these that run extremely from the city of one's own enemy senses are gathered inward, even so, like a person living in a cave looking outward, the eyes are half-open and half-closed, the face is slightly raised, focusing on the body of one's own clear deity, abiding equally with one mind. The meaning of life effort is like this, as established by the Ornament for Clear Realization quoted earlier, or life is the same as before, and effort is to prevent exhalation and inhalation, cutting off the continuity of circulation. Such things should be grasped with whatever ability one has. When one cannot do it, one should slowly relax, become relaxed, look at one's own clear deity, and then do it again as before. When one is tired from practicing, the way to rest will be described later. Here, for the clearly appearing deity's body, it is necessary to generate the samadhi in which the mind abides for a long time, because the horse of the mind is wind, therefore thinking of grasping it, the mind easily grasps one object, so it is said in the explanation of the later meditation that one is holding the wind.

I think that the mind-king, together with the entourage of mindfulness, samadhi, and attention, is like a rider riding on the horse of life. Grasping the horse of life, one will surely grasp the mind-king and his entourage. As other treatises say, "Stopping life, that is, stopping it, one will surely grasp the self-mind together with mindfulness, wisdom, and attention." So it is said. Although meditation also needs restraint, it involves many objects, so it does not need to be restrained like samadhi, which involves only one object. Therefore, it is not necessary to restrain it like restraining samadhi, so it is said, "After restraining, abide in samadhi," which is said to samadhi, not to meditation. To what extent should this be done? Just as quoted earlier in the cause of the Vajrapani empowerment, in all activities, one must obtain the divine clear appearance and the divine pride, so as to obtain the ability to prevent ordinary pride. Therefore, it is not enough to merely have the mind appear in the form of a deity, but one must also stabilize pride and grasp the mind on that basis.

It is okay to do it all at once even if it is not done separately. Regarding self-generation, other teachers say to meditate on the deities of each stage as complete. But if, like these two teachers, first in the self-generation stage of practice, one main deity of each lineage is sufficient, and after the practice has been completed, when accomplishing the benefit of oneself and others, in the self-generation stage, it is good to complete all the deities that have been mentioned. Inviting the wisdom being, bestowing empowerment and consolidating it, etc., it is okay to do as other teachers have said, and if it is done as these two teachers have not said, there is no contradiction. The second part has six aspects: generating the support; inviting the deity who is the support to come and reside; showing the mudra; making offerings and praises; making confession, etc.; meditating on the four immeasurables. The first aspect is: in the direction where the painted image, etc., is displayed in front of oneself, imagine a ground made of various jewels covered with gold sand, and bless it by reciting Om Tsala Bi Hum Svaha Above it, imagine a great ocean of milk, free from faults such as fishiness, decorated with flowers such as lotuses and utpalas, with many flocks of precious birds flying. Bless it by reciting Om Bimala Daha Hum In its center is Mount Meru with four sides, surrounded by rows of stairs made of gold, silver, indranila, and coral. On all sides, wish-fulfilling trees grow well, decorated with thousands of flying banners of victory. Above it, imagine a lotus stalk, decorated with various jewels, with petals of various jewels, with golden stamens and coral pollen, with silver lines around the heart, with countless expanses, piercing through the center of Mount Meru, and from it, hundreds of thousands of lotus nets arise. Fold your palms, cross your fingers, and press your left thumb with your right thumb. Recite Nama Sarva Tathagata Nam Sarva Tha Ungate Sparana Himam Gagana Kham Svaha (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) a hundred times and bless it. Above, also in an instant with the mind,
