As for the statements of refutation: Because it is obscure, it is concealed. At that time, their realization of selflessness must be realized through the aspect of generality, therefore it is not reasonable for ordinary beings to meditate on Suchness with non-conceptual wisdom. Moreover, since it is a noble cause that accords with non-conceptual wisdom, it is neither a conceptualization that has not entered Suchness, nor is it a deliberation on the meaning of selflessness through the aspect of generality, therefore it is also not a non-conceptualization of anything. In the commentary on the Guhyasamaja, "A Flower in the Palm of the Hand": Individual discrimination regarding reality is neither discrimination nor non-discrimination. Why is it not discrimination? Because it is what generates and accords with non-discrimination. Why is it not non-discrimination? Because it discriminates the meaning of reality. Non-discrimination itself does not give rise to non-discrimination, because children do not have it. Nor does it arise from the discrimination of nature, because that is its antidote. However, those individual discriminations that equally abide in the very meaning of reality, since they follow meditation, the mind will effortlessly abide equally in the non-elaborate sphere of reality. That is called the non-elaborate non-conceptual wisdom. It is also said: From the form of entering into non-conceptualization, by relying on that correct practice, one will follow it. By meditating, one will follow it. By increasing, one will follow it. By correctly directing the mind, one will follow it, therefore, without manifest effort and spontaneously accomplished, one will touch the sphere of non-conceptualization. In the Pramāṇaviniścaya it is also said: If one becomes accustomed to the wisdom that is the nature of thought, one will directly realize the ultimate wisdom that is free from delusion, immaculate, and indestructible. Therefore, the individual discrimination regarding reality spoken by the Bhagavan, those who wish to realize non-conceptual bodhi should rely on it, this is the conclusive conclusion. If it is said that the cause of non-conceptual wisdom needs a similar kind of non-conceptualization, then it is harmful that children do not have it.

Furthermore, Shantipa, quoting Dharmakirti's argument, explained that through familiarizing oneself with the discriminating wisdom arising from speech and thought, non-discriminating wisdom can arise. It is also stated in the 'Ear of Instructions' that although discrimination is a thought, it is in accordance with non-discriminating wisdom. Being in accordance is the proximate cause of it. It is also stated in the 'Two Examinations': 'From discrimination arises discrimination, existence itself brings about existence.' The meaning of this is that Shantipa said that by cultivating the discriminating thoughts that discriminate on the true meaning, through developing strength, non-discriminating wisdom can be generated, and that solely through worldly paths such as mindfulness and close abiding, enlightenment factors and other transcendental paths can arise. Therefore, discrimination ceases discrimination, and existence ceases existence. This is also stated in the 'Ear of Instructions'. The arising of non-discrimination from familiarizing oneself with discrimination is also clearly stated in the question of 'Light Protector', just as two pieces of wood rubbing vigorously do not produce fire, but burn the wood itself. Furthermore, in the 'Ear of Instructions' it says: 'When the light of true wisdom arises from definite examination with the eye of wisdom, all phenomena are unseen. Therefore, those yogis of Suchness who abide in all activities, although they see all phenomena, are as if they do not see. Only this state is considered unseen, not like sleeping and closing the eyes, because there is no mental engagement. Only by being free from the seeds of doubt can one remove attachment to forms and so on, just like pulling out a thorn.' This is certain. Therefore, it is necessary to examine with discriminating wisdom, thereby abiding in the meaning of not finding any elaborations, and not merely cultivating Suchness through non-discrimination that collects mental engagement. And the remedy for the faults of the mind is not like pulling out an external thorn, but rather by taking the opposite approach to clinging, thereby dispelling superimposition and doubt. What Kamalashila said in the 'Stages of Meditation' is no different from this. Therefore, for those to be tamed by mantra and those to be tamed by the Paramita Vehicle, the causes that bind them to samsara are not different, and the main factor that binds them, self-grasping, must also be countered.
