As stated in the Vajra Karma Ritual, flowers are scattered and offerings are made on the lines, so the walls are offered to and flowers are scattered, which is to cover them in order to avoid damage to the pigments. However, since the great accomplished ones have not stated this, it needs to be examined whether it is necessary to do so. If there is a bad omen in the pigments, the method of pacifying it is: In order to pacify the faults of the Buddhas, the fault of applying pigments refers to those who do not have mindfulness and action. For those who have mindfulness and good actions, no one can cut them off. As stated in the Garland Treatise, these also appear in Nagarjuna's mandala ritual. The walls are made to be one-twentieth of the width of the door and slightly wider in the middle, as stated by Marme Zangpo, Paljin, Prajñārakṣita, and Bhūva Lodan. It is unreasonable to say that these wise and accomplished ones could be mistaken about such a rough statement, so it is necessary to seek its intention. The necessity is also mentioned in the Garland Treatise: For the mandala to be meditated upon, these five walls are made of five precious colors and are slightly wider in the middle. This is according to the wishes of some people, that is, some people think that the mandala to be meditated upon is slightly wider in the middle. Although such a view has also appeared, in the mandala rituals, it seems that it is only said that the mandala to be drawn is like this, so it must be explained as not contradicting the mandala to be drawn. As stated in the Garland Treatise, the thickness of the thread is more than one-twentieth of a grain of barley, made to the size of a grain of barley, and said to be one-twentieth of the width of the door, just like it is only for a mandala with a main line of one cubit. Similarly, the width from edge to edge of each wall that is said to be slightly wider in the middle refers to the width of the wall with only a main line of one cubit. And the one-twentieth of the width of the door that is said is taken as the standard of the wall width of all mandalas of all sizes, and if both are used to indicate the width, there will be no contradiction. For the lines of the pigments, one should also visualize them as the essence of tubular objects etc. made of precious white etc. Like this, when the previously mentioned dimensions are drawn, the disciples or artists etc. can arrange them as they please. As stated in the Vajra Dakini: Then the disciples can arrange them as they please. When entering and leaving the mandala, fearing the fault of stepping on the lines and pigments, entering with the Vajra force, the lines of the wisdom pigments are in the mind in the sky.
