It is essential to keep in mind the subtle and gross outlines of epistemology, and to diligently study and practice for a long time those instructions that arise from the key points of deity yoga practice and accumulation and purification, which are related to them. In this way, the lifeblood of mantra and the path of prajnaparamita will become common, and even a brief discussion on how the realization of higher vision arises will be of great help in generating certainty about the key points of the path. In general, there are now countless secret mantras and definitive instructions appearing in Tibet, and all of them have been transmitted by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. If one can find a basis other than the mere words of the deity, then one will fall completely into the direct level of consciousness, and there will be no way to generate pure certainty about the key points of the path without error. Therefore, to impartially observe, if those with wisdom are to find a path without error, one must find a path that does not conflict with either the sutras or the tantras, and from which one can draw nourishment, while following the reasoning of a great chariot master, distinguishing well between the definitive and the provisional, and which cannot be led to other extremes, and which can be established without hindrance by reason. Therefore, it is necessary to value the great scriptures and the immaculate reasoning that seeks their meaning, and although the order of arising in the continuum has been many in the past, one should not be satisfied with that alone, but should encourage oneself with the thought of focusing solely on the teachings, and constantly pray that the deity and the guru are inseparable. By striving in many doors of accumulation and purification, now, with respect to the general collection of scriptures and the great treatises of commentary, it is not just a superficial knowledge, but a wholehearted commitment to practice. The reason why it is easy to generate certainty about this way is that I have gone beyond the ocean-like shore of self and other schools, and have understood the essence of the three inner sciences—the key points of the three trainings—and have not only stopped at verbal promises, but have integrated them into practice. I have followed many learned and accomplished virtuous friends, and have been embraced by great-hearted Bodhisattvas blessed by countless transcendent deities.

Having seen the instructions of glorious Dipamkara Jnana, the very nature of the stages of the path to enlightenment and the stages of the path of the mantra vehicle being definitively established without any error, I found it very amazing, so the stages of guiding disciples are done on that alone. That instruction also seems to expound all the treatises and pith instructions of the scriptures and commentaries as condensed into one stage of the path, so that both the one who can speak and the one who can listen, if they speak and practice, not only are they small pith instructions, but it seems that all the scriptures are in agreement, so I did not show many kinds of guidance. My own renunciation and bodhicitta, and the way of guiding the instructions on views, and the common and uncommon practices of the secret mantra and paramita paths, all seem to come together as one with what was said. I think those are just seeds, and the stages of the path seem like a vast explanation, and the stages of the path are established without dispute for all. I thought that if I taught my own instructions, it would become a great basis for addition and subtraction, with very little benefit and very great faults, so I did not do those guides separately except for establishing the stages of the path. Here, too, as soon as I went to practice, some disciples of some kinds had visions of the body and speech of the yidam, and it was enough to cut them off with doubt or desire. In particular, for one person, most of the speech was of definitive meaning, and although it seemed that much was said, it seemed that there was no error in where to examine the basis of the scriptures and commentaries, how to examine, and whether such examination was complete or not, so what dharma to teach and what kind of retinue to rely on, and where to live, etc., most of them did not involve much of my own fabrication. The speech of those appearances, for what I have taught, is also mostly in complete agreement with the examination of the scriptures and great treatises. If one out of a hundred things does not agree with the great treatises, it falls on those who think that the qualities that should be abandoned are pith instructions. The scriptures must not be abandoned in any way, but must be valued, and when this is said, it is seen as the essence of pith instructions. This is how well-spoken this is.
