Having realized this, great wisdom arises. I wonder, what have I studied and practiced? The discriminating wisdom that dissects subtle lines of reasoning, the practice that brings forth scriptural instructions as personal guidance, and the eloquence of speech that masters the art of expression—these three appear as jewels in this world. They are exceedingly rare and fulfill desires. Because they increase extraordinary joy, they are known as "jewels" to the wise. There is no other jewel that captivates the minds of the wise. The supreme speakers, the father and sons (Dignāga and Dharmakīrti), and those who vanquish wrong views, such as Dignāga and Dharmakīrti, with the nectar of well-reasoned paths that has come forth, unless the stains of the eye of wisdom are repeatedly washed away, what need is there to mention seeing the profound places? When repeatedly examining the meaning of logical statements and scriptures, mostly distorted thoughts will increase. Even if certainty is gained merely through a correct proposition, because doubt is not dispelled by the power of proof and refutation, it becomes like a stake driven into mud, and one cannot establish a firm habit. Here, even if one diligently studies the two systems of reasoning, it is like wanting to go east but heading west, or like pretas being burned by the moonlight. Through the power of distorted thoughts based on reasoning itself, by repeatedly defiling the eye of wisdom, all the goodness of this life and the next is destroyed, and for a long time, it becomes a cause for turning away from correct views. Extremely strong habits appear in abundance. Therefore, until wisdom is subtle and virtuous, and not as sharp as the tip of a kusha grass, do not be easily satisfied. Relying on wise spiritual friends, thoroughly study the scriptures of reasoning. In this way, the eye of wisdom will be able to realize the profound meaning of the supreme vehicle spoken by the Victorious Ones, and understand the nature of mere consciousness and the absence of inherent existence, comprehending the intention of the two. Thereafter, when studying the chariot lineages of Mipham Chökyi Lodrö, Nāgārjuna, and the brothers Asanga, and the many stainless scriptures, with vast words, those who are initially karmically inclined can be skillfully guided from this very moment until the state of Buddhahood through profound instructions. Because they have become familiar with them, they are called wise when they view all the Buddha's words and commentaries as the supreme instructions. The rest are like a parrot reciting, like a well without water, or a painted lamp. Why is that? Because there is no wise

The supreme ones composed (these texts) so that the practice of the treatises would be understood. Alas! The accomplishment of the two benefits of beings is not independent of pure treatises. Even relying on them, merely focusing on the words, has passed, and one has been deceived by that. Like some carried away by water, yet dying of thirst. Although hearing much, the poverty of Dharma is due to the fault that the treatises have not appeared as instructions. Therefore, whatever is learned, it is most important that it appears as instructions. If that is so, if the key points of the meaning are not mistaken, even if the wording is poor, the fault is small. However, when the Victor himself praised the scriptures, he said: "Good meaning and good words." Like applying a cool ray-emitting light to a very white mansion. For good meaning, if adorned with captivating words, it becomes extremely beautiful. Like the reddish-yellow and the arrangement of the Victor's heavenly palace, the meters called "Vrtta" and "Jati," although not exactly the same in Tibetan, there is a style of alternating between verse and prose. The style of wording adorned with embellishments, such as the ornaments of meaning and words, if well composed like a treatise on poetics, will greatly increase the joy of the intelligent ones. Thus, for all three jewels,

The scribe who wrote at Drog Riboche Gelden Nampar Gyalwai Ling (འབྲོག་རི་བོ་ཆེ་དགེ་ལྡན་རྣམ་པར་རྒྱལ་བའི་གླིང་) (大昭寺) by the glory of 'འི་ is Kashiwa Rinchen Pel. May this also enable the precious teachings to flourish in every way! The order in which the Lord of Dharma, the Buddha Shakyamuni, the Victorious One, endowed with great compassion, leads sentient beings to benefit and happiness is as follows: First, the happiness of higher realms, and later, the happiness of definite goodness. These alone can completely fulfill all the circumstances and ultimate desires of beings. In reality, one should see that these are fully complete, without excess or deficiency. Therefore, no matter how much is said, it is appropriate, and from wherever it is said, it is relevant. Even a small part can immediately and in the long run give beings immeasurable happiness. All the teachings and subsequent instructions given are entirely based on higher realms and definite goodness. Accordingly, these are also known as clear words and profound words. Among them, higher realms are the perfection of body and enjoyment. Definite goodness is nirvana. In short, the corresponding methods for accomplishing these two are also two: faith that firmly believes in karma and its results, and wisdom that understands the meaning of suchness. For these two, since wisdom can cut off the root of samsara, wisdom is the main one, and faith is the secondary one. However, faith can generate preliminary wisdom, faith is the result of samsara, and wisdom is the result of liberation. Thinking: Therefore, one should despise faith and start with wisdom. Such foolish people, who are separated from the guidance of a virtuous friend, lacking the wealth of reason to properly contemplate the meaning of much learning, and like deceiving customers, lacking the intellectual ability to distinguish between the right path and the wrong path, one should never go to their entrance. To explain the reason for this: From the habituation of many samsaric existences, the liberation that is obtained, comes from the happy realms, and that is also, led by the correct view, the actions of body, speech, and mind, etc., without fault and
