Generosity, and the alms bowl to non-relatives, and also apply to those who have attained greatness. If encouragement is given to making a message for the relinquished abandonment. What is that like? It is the messenger who has been instructed to make the message. How is it instructed? It is not permissible to use the value to buy robes, but when the patron entrusts gold and other precious jewels to the messenger to send to the monks, saying: Venerable messenger, the monks should not accept the value of buying robes. If we get suitable robes in time, we will accept them. When abandoning in this way, the messenger asks the noble ones, is making a message contradictory? After first asking the message-maker, the monk points to this and the messenger instructs: You use the value of this robe to buy such a robe, and when the monk named so-and-so comes, offer it to him. That is what the messenger said. To the message-maker, narrating the outcome of what happened, what was done before has already been said to that monk. Unable to go, and the meaning of the six doors of encouragement that were spoken should be sought. Venerable one, message-maker, the patron wants. Like this once, if it is not accomplished twice, say it like that. There is no fixed order for encouragement and stopping, and there is no fault in the number being four stopping and two encouraging, and it cannot be reversed. In the Differentiation it says: Or four, or five, or six, without saying anything in between, they stand aside. This is not contradictory to what was said, because that is with encouragement, and this is only stopping, because it is for three reasons. If any one of these six encouragements to stop exceeds, it will be abandoned, and if the patron does not promise to protect the mind, it will also be abandoned. What should be done? Accept. What? Clothes. Here, for things, clothes or the value of clothes is mostly permissible, having the size of a cubit of cloth, the patron entrusts it to the messenger, and the messenger hands it over to the message-maker, these are five. So it is said. When exceeding encouragement to stop will cause an offense, the value of the clothes needs to be precious jewels, and when requesting, the explanation says it is clothes. The so-called three refers to being a householder, having five names, the body being ordinary, and oneself and those three also being different from the perspective of substance, these four are common, and especially the message-maker must protect the patron's mind.

It is not accepted. Ultimately, it refers to the arising of the thought of obtaining. Non-humans make three into one, and the second into three. Humans make the second into three, and the three into one, which are the eight kinds. Among the eight kinds thus spoken of, one is a falling offense, and the other is a misdeed. If a messenger conveys the final words and urges a monk, it is a misdeed. If the price of the Dharma robe is brought by a messenger, and it is taken without being relinquished as previously stated, it is a misdeed. It is also the same if one instructs a steward without being asked. If there is no hope of obtaining the robe from the steward's hand, it is also the same if one does not inform the donor. Some say that this ritual mentioned in the root text is for precious items that have not been properly processed. If they have been properly processed, there is no offense even if they are taken. If the donor aims at the price of the robe and the monk also needs it, then what is stated here is necessary. If the offering is made with an external intention, and the monk also needs it for offering to the Buddha, for feasts for the Sangha, etc., then it should be properly processed and taken as one's own. This is what the commentator says. Regarding the abandonment of silk and cotton, there are two types of mats: striped and lined. These two are also called soft and cotton-filled. Cushions and mats are different because their form, need, and permission/prohibition are different. Therefore, silk and cotton can be used to make mats, but not cushions. The width of the cushion is the same as the mat, and the length is preferably five and a half cubits, and at the worst, three and a half cubits. The medium is between the two. The outer shell of the lined cushion also belongs to the category of cushions, so there is no abandonment in carrying it. It seems that blessings do not accumulate for cushions that are larger or smaller than the best and worst sizes, and it is not allowed to own them for the sake of enjoyment. In this regard, silk and cotton are soft, of adequate size, autonomous, not items that have been used for more than four months, not mixed with other pleasing items, rare and expensive in that area, and have not been previously made. These eight are complete. So it is said. Of adequate size. The ultimate size that covers the three circumferences, reaching that size becomes the substance of a falling offense. It is said that if it is smaller than that, it becomes a misdeed. It needs to be examined whether it is the same as three and a half cubits. The size is the same for all three below. Mixing with others makes the item bad.
