La. To purify karmic obscurations, it is like what is said in the scriptures to be an act of wrongdoing. This is not just being without fault, but one will transgress if it is not done. For example, if this is not done, loans will not circulate. In this way, one will commit a defeat due to not giving and taking, thus becoming an obstacle to discipline. If one engages in trade without deception, obtaining profits by combining location and time, thereby circulating loans, then it is necessary to avoid becoming an obstacle to discipline. Alternatively, even though there are strict rituals, there is a fault of being lax. For example, in this case, these two are overwhelmed by great prohibitions, and in order to protect these two, the great necessity of avoiding small prohibitions overwhelms, so allowing the greater in the face of needing to prohibit the smaller is faultless. And the downfall of not giving and taking is because there is no fault in protecting it. It is the best method if neither of the two faults occur, abandoning this method, in order to protect the worst method, that is, the action of needing to prohibit the smaller. Similarly, it should be known to all, because the reasons are the same. The second case is that some say that if one measures oneself and others, the greater allows the smaller, because confession is sufficient. This is unreasonable, because the permission related to the sin of self-nature is contradictory. There is also no fault of being unable to accomplish, because its ultimate fault is harming life, and for this purpose, it is said in the scriptures that one can give up life. Not regarding life is also not for oneself or others, but for the sake of purifying discipline, a bodhisattva will engage, and if one does not regard it, one will not engage. If there is no permission for oneself and others, if someone asks, then is it contradictory to what is said in the Vinaya-vibhaṅga that madness and so on have no downfall? That is because there is no fault of falling away from the intention of being able to accomplish what is prescribed. For those who think that because it is not the basis of what is prescribed, there is no term of permission, in order to answer the uncertain statement of allowing a patient afternoon food, saying whether the prescriptions of the five divisions exist or not, I do not see it as reasonable. The argument is also unreasonable, because if there is permission, there is no need for confession. When measuring the prescribed single precepts, there is no necessity to allow the small downfall for the sake of the great downfall. In order to avoid committing an act of wrongdoing by touching a hand-held object, it is permitted to commit a downfall branch by touching fire. Some say that this is not allowing a downfall branch, but after remembering the time

They say that there is no downfall for touching. To this, some say: This is because the thought of wanting to touch fire, together with the act of touching, is the cause of generating downfall. Because that is allowed. If it were not so, then the statement of allowing downfall would be interrupted, because there is no allowance for what has become the nature of downfall. Furthermore, if allowed, how is it allowed? If it is said to be like food in the afternoon for a sick person, then this is because it was not initially prohibited. Because it is not established as downfall itself, if you want to interrupt the statement of allowance, then it contradicts "for those who have become downfall, allowing freely." If you think that is the motivation for downfall, then this is also because it is accompanied by the thought of wanting to touch fire. Even if you think that there is no downfall because of the blessing of time, there is no self-satisfaction for the former either. Therefore, it is not certain because the statement of allowing the big in the face of the small is obtained. If the size of what needs to be refuted is different, then it is because the small is allowed in the face of the big, because all prohibitions depend on the need. If you think that it needs to be refuted, then measuring the size of the prohibition, it is certain that the small is allowed in the face of the big, because the punishment of the prohibition is great, because that which establishes the meaning of the great, the refutation is also established as great. So, are the size of the prohibition and the size of the refutation related? Or are they not related? Tsarongpa said: They are not related, although alienation and bloodletting are great refutations, the prohibition is only coarse, and for concealing and abandoning the aftermath, although there is no such refutation, it is because of the prohibition of defeat. They say that. To this, some say: That is not so, if the action is related to the refutation, then the prohibition of the two does not have the certainty of concealment, if all the prohibitions have the need for the establishment of refutation, then there is certainly a relationship, like this, because of the difference of refutation, killing people and killing livestock, stealing people and stealing other beings, receiving full ordination and slandering the unordained, and those who have become monks doing unlawful things, etc., contradict the numerous scriptures that establish the size of the prohibition. Not distinguishing the accomplished ones is because, the sin related to this action is great, but not distinguishing the prohibition is because, the time of appearance is long, for example, although a woman has a refutation of disbelief for eating repeatedly, it is because the time of appearance from a man is long.
