Because both the large and the small are included, the necessity of the small is not obvious. For example, in the context of the Pratimoksha vows, killing an ordinary person is a Parajika offense. Similarly, extracting the blood of a Tathagata with the intention of killing the Tathagata is said to be a grave offense. In the Mahayana, there is no Parajika offense for taking the property of an ordinary householder without permission, but there is a Parajika offense for being stingy and not giving one's own property to a poor beggar. The way of abandoning is quoted in the Compendium of Trainings and the Compendium of Sutras as "abandoning and causing to stop." The Sutra says, "One should abandon, one should prevent." In the Bodhisattvabhumi, other than abandoning oneself in the Mahayana, there is no causing others to abandon, and it is also considered that these two are the same. Therefore, causing others to abandon is not a limb. The way of abandoning oneself is to slander by saying that this was not spoken by the Tathagata. If it is said that abandoning the Hearer Vehicle is said to be a misdeed, is this contradictory? Answer: That is just belittling, not abandoning in this way. It will be explained in this way. Here there are three things, such as abandoning the Mahayana. The third Parajika offense is the Parajika offense of harming the ordained. In this, the object of harm is: The Sutra says that for those who have ordained following the Buddha, whether they have taken up the basis of training or not, whether their discipline is pure or not, it is said in this way, and there is also the word "also" in that verse, so "a monk whose discipline is impure" is only a representation. How is harm done? The motivation is: the thought of harming and injuring that object, that is, affliction. The action is: taking away the robes, or causing them to disrobe and live at home, whichever is done. Striking with implements, imprisoning, and taking life are said to be root downfalls, which are included in being beaten and various harms, and the Parajika offense of arrogance. The owner who takes away the robes of a person with ordained vows needs to lack four monks, because if there are four monks, it will become the first root downfall. Here there are two Parajika offenses: taking away the robes and causing them to disrobe. The fourth Parajika offense is the Parajika offense of committing the five inexpiable sins. That is, the five inexpiable root downfalls of killing one's father, killing one's mother, killing an Arhat, causing dissension in the Sangha, and drawing blood from the Tathagata with evil intent.

Furthermore, the four that are not exceptions are included in the fifth root downfall of a Bodhisattva. The fifth root downfall is: the root downfall of holding wrong views. That is, to slander by saying that there are no karmic results of black and white and no previous or future lives. Merely generating this thought will cut off the roots of virtue, so there is no need to take up the ten non-virtuous actions or to cause others to take them up. The sixth root downfall is: the root downfall of destroying places. This has two aspects: the place to be destroyed is any of the towns, cities, regions, and localities. The motivation for destroying is: the afflicted mind that wants to destroy those places. The action is: destroying by any means of destruction. The first five are considered the downfall of the king, and the sixth is considered the second, as quoted in the Sutra Compilation, the five up to the five inexpiable sins are the downfall of the ministers, and it is also in the Sutra. If destroying sentient beings existing in towns and other places is a root downfall, then it is included in the root downfall of beating and so on, and if destroying the enjoyments existing in those places is a root downfall, then it is included in the first or thirteenth root downfall, so this is destroying places. Therefore, there are four root downfalls of destroying towns and so on. The seventh root downfall is: the root downfall of explaining the profound to a non-vessel. This has three aspects: the object to be taught is: sentient beings who have not diligently trained their minds, if emptiness is taught to them, they will be afraid, and those who have the complete Bodhicitta. The content to be taught is: emptiness that is free from all elaborations. How it becomes after teaching: after teaching emptiness in this way, they will be afraid and turn away from the complete Bodhicitta, and instead generate the Bodhicitta of the Lesser Vehicle. This refers to the situation where the vessel has not been examined, if the vessel has been examined, and one knows that the other person is suitable as a vessel, even if the thing itself is not so, will it not generate a root downfall? The eighth root downfall is: the root downfall of turning people away from the Great Vehicle. This has two aspects: what is to be turned away is: those who have already entered the Buddha's path, that is, those who have generated the complete Bodhicitta and entered the Great Vehicle. The way to turn them away is: you say that you cannot practice the six perfections, you cannot become a Buddha, so generate the mind of the Hearer and Solitary Realizer Vehicle, and you will be liberated from samsara. Is it enough to just turn them away? Or is it necessary to turn them away? In the Great Commentary on the Bodhicaryavatara, it says: the intelligence with means
