Later, an event occurred. A Chinese man said, "You two have been listening for three years and haven't understood anything. If I listen, I'll understand." The two brothers said, "That's just how we are. It doesn't matter who understands the Dharma; if you can understand it, then you listen. We'll provide the food." So Lhaje Gyana stayed there and studied the Ornament of Clear Realization from Khyungpo Drakse, the Abhidharmakosha from 'Ban, the Pramana from Takpa Khache, and also consulted 'Gar Söye, listening for nine years and becoming proficient in all subjects. At the age of thirty, he went to Sangdak Drophukpa to hear the mantras and stayed for eleven years. During the three years, except for Jöse Nyangtöpa occasionally saying a few words, there was never a detailed conversation in his presence. Once, Gyatsön Sengpon and his servants happened to gather with Lhaje Chökhor. Gyatsön and his servants started a debate, and Lhaje Gyana refuted them. Because he subdued their arrogance, they were very pleased and began to regard him differently. Furthermore, because his son Jötsun Dorje Drak opened his mind, he was very pleased and transmitted to him the texts and instructions on the generation stage, completion stage, and the three stages, as well as special secret instructions and notes, so Lhaje Khangpa Zurtsho had more complete Dharma and deeper instructions than others. At the age of forty, he demonstrated passing away. The following year, Drophukpa also passed away. In the Gyatsang area of Nyangtö, he learned from Dützi Nyangme Dardseng the method of subduing demons and the fundamental abiding of the Vajrakila. In addition, there were different Vajrakila methods such as the Kyi tradition. From Dampa Pormang, he learned the Dzogchen Por tradition. From Jomo Nyangmo, he learned the heart essence of the Dzogchen Kham tradition of Aro. Similarly, he heard many teachings on the Dzogchen Bramze tradition and other Ke Tsangma teachings, thus becoming the master of all mantras, philosophical tenets, tantras, and sadhanas. When performing medicine rituals, the goddess personally appeared from the palace of medicine, circled the mandala three times, and dissolved into it, which everyone witnessed. He performed great deeds for the benefit of others and passed away at the age of fifty-six. His nephew, the great lama Yönten Zung, was born in the Fire Horse year. He began studying at the age of eleven. At the age of thirteen, he accompanied his uncle and completed the study of all the tantras, transmissions, and instructions of the generation stage, completion stage, and the three stages. At the age of twenty-four, his uncle Gyanapa passed away, and he inherited the seat.

Upa Ton Shak and Upa Zhikpo, etc., cut through the net of doubt and worked for the benefit of themselves and others. U Ton Shak, or Dampa Se Drakpa, was a descendant of Gzerpa Wangtung of Gzad. He became a monk at Dro Phuk Monastery, and after gaining faith, he began to study. In order to welcome Lhaje Gya Nak's arrival, he went to Drong and completed all the tantras and instructions. Thinking of only practicing meditation, he went north to look for a monastery. At Yolwa Drak, he met Dampa Yolchungpa, who was carving a rock. He asked, "Are you going to build a monastery here?" He replied, "Yes." He asked, "Is there no other place?" He replied, "On the other side, there is a rock with conjoined apples. That place is better than this." Then Dampa Ton Shak went to the rock with the conjoined apples, and near the spring, he found some tsampa balls, which he took as a good omen. He stayed there and practiced meditation, and he developed special realization. The gods listened to his commands. He was able to benefit many disciples, and therefore he was known as Dampa Se Drakpa. Upa Zhikpo was from Yarlung. He was a scribe in front of the throne of Dro Phuk Monastery, and later he entered the Buddhist order. He followed Lhaje Gya Nak's attendant. He became proficient in the generation stage, the completion stage, and Mahamudra. When he wanted to go to the local area to show off, he thought that he needed an umbrella, conch shell, offerings, etc. as conditions, and in order to obtain these, he went to Nepal. On the way, he thought, "Although I have learned so much Dharma, there is nothing to practice. It is useless to die now, I must focus on the instructions." So he returned to the master and reported. The master gave him the precious instructions of the oral transmission. He walked while practicing. When he arrived at Mangyul Gungtang, the inexpressible wisdom of Dzogchen appeared for seven days. There he took offerings from the Nepalese. When he arrived at Mangyul Gungtang, he contracted a fever. He thought, "Is it because I am unhappy now?" So he made up his mind. He left all his belongings in the village. He went to the mountain to practice, and he had no obstacles to all the land, stones, and rocks. Knowing that his previous thoughts were unnecessary, he discarded all the things for showing off as he pleased. When he saw a Manjushri and one-seventh of a Ting, he remembered the kindness of the master,
