He stayed there. After sleeping a little, he saw the faces of many Buddhas on that path and attained many samadhis. The gods showered flowers. While a herd of elephants was resting in the cool shade, the king of that place came with his entourage for a stroll, and as soon as he saw (him), the sound of music arose, and (he) woke up. He asked, "Are those elephants on your side?" He replied, "That is so." The king developed faith and prostrated at (his) feet. Then he traveled to the south and defeated most of the non-Buddhist opponents from different places with his reasoning, and he became known as the chief of debaters. He restored all the previously deteriorated foundations of the Dharma. The minister of the king of Odisha, named Bhadrasalita, was initiated into the Buddhist teachings. That Brahmin built sixteen great monasteries, each with a large monastic community. In that Brahmin's garden, there was a tree called Mushtiharitaka Fist Haritaki), a special kind of haritaki tree that could cure all diseases. It had become a source of sustenance for many people, but (the tree) had withered. Through the power of the truth of a vow of pure morality, he restored it to its original state. His disciples who followed the Dharma were: learned in all fields of knowledge, the great-grandson of the glorious Dharmakirti, who wrote a commentary on the Compendium of Topics, and countless others such as the master Wangchuk De. However, he did not take a single attendant practitioner. Like those great Shravaka disciples who had previously lived near the Teacher, because of their contentment and knowing satisfaction, they never deviated from the twelve qualities of ascetic practice, and in a certain forest in Odisha, their bodies completely entered Nirvana. This great teacher, along with the direct disciples of Vasubandhu, the monk Gedun Bang and Arya Vimuktisena, and the disciples of both brothers, the teacher Chodrak, also engaged in the work of propagating the Dharma. Similarly, Buddhapalita and Bhavaviveka came one after the other and established the Madhyamaka school that asserts emptiness of inherent existence. The tenets of the two founders of the chariot traditions are very different. The tenets of Asanga are only Mind-Only, while the Madhyamaka path of the noble Nagarjuna...

became, because we are not other than this, thus preventing other extremes, therefore the Mahayana also split into two schools from here. The wonderful great scholar Chandragomin, a monk holding the three baskets, wandered in the king's palace for alms during the festival, but was driven away by the gatekeeper without receiving alms. When he was threatened by the hunger of fasting and passed away, he was reborn as a king in the next life, and vowed to satisfy the ordained with food. Therefore, he was reborn as King Angchu, the son of King Sri Harsha. When he was in power, in the eastern region of Rendra, there was a scholar who could see the face of the Holy Avalokiteshvara. He debated with a Lokayata heretic and refuted him. The heretic said, 'The science of logic is the discrimination of wisdom. Whoever wins the debate is a follower of Buddhism. There is no obvious evidence of the existence of past and future lives, so I do not admit it.' Then the king and others were taken as witnesses, and a cinnabar dot was placed on his forehead. He put a pearl in his mouth and died to show his reincarnation. His body was placed in a copper coffin and sealed by the king. As he had promised, he was reborn as the son of the Brahmin Visheshavaga of the royal lineage. He was born with a boy with auspicious signs, with cinnabar on his forehead and a pearl in his mouth. When the king looked at the previous corpse, he found that the cinnabar on his forehead had also disappeared, and the traces of the pearl were still there. At this time, the heretic also believed. As soon as the child was born, he clasped his hands to his mother and asked, 'Have I had enough milk for ten months?' The mother thought it was an ominous sign, so she advised him to remain silent. After that, he did not speak for seven years, and was again suspected of being dumb. At that time, a heretic composed a very rigorous poem refuting the tenets of Buddhism and challenged the king and scholars. At that time, the father, the scholar, after a long period of thinking, could not overcome the author, because that heretic was called the Lord of Grammar, and everyone found it difficult to overcome him. If he could not understand the meaning of the words as they were, let alone answer them. At that time, after the father went out, the seven-year-old Chandra answered the question without difficulty, wrote verses, and explained the meaning with annotations. After the father saw it,
