As it is said, "The three and the dharmas are explained." Second, to those who are frightened by various fears, including those threatened with their lives, giving the refuge of fearlessness through love, compassion, and generosity. Third, there are three types of material giving: giving, great giving, and extreme giving. First, one should strive to increase the accumulation of giving to those who are afflicted by poverty. In the past, when there was a famine in the land of King Golden Hue, he offered the only bushel of grain in his treasury to a Pratyekabuddha, and through the merit of this, the famine in the region was pacified. Furthermore, the Teacher (Buddha) said, "Whatever is given to others is one's own; what one holds onto is another's." Second, one should train in giving away children, wives, and lands to those who are afflicted by desire. Third, this is the practice of the noble ones, which is giving away one's head, eyes, and limbs. Even if one cannot actually do it, one should make it the object of aspiration, like practicing body offering through visualization, which is in accordance with aspiration and the generation of bodhicitta. Second, for ghosts and spirits, give three portions and ransom offerings; for pretas, give water offerings. There are also dharanis called "Beautiful Form" (Tibetan: གཟུགས་ལེགས་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: ), the essence of the Wisdom Meteor, the Torma ritual for exhaling from the mouth of a female preta with a burning mouth, the dharani for giving refuge to the one with fire burning from the mouth (Tibetan: ཁ་ལས་མེ་འབར་མ་ལ་སྐྱབས་སྦྱིན་པའི་གཟུངས་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: ), and the dharani called "Obstacle Removal" (Tibetan: འཇུར་གེགས་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: ). In the dharani of the one with fire burning from the mouth, four names are mentioned. Some say that one should meditate on the four Tathagatas on the crown of the head, etc., but the actual teachings of the scriptures only mention the blessings and benefits of reciting the names, and do not mention the object of realization or meditation. Similarly, the term "four guests" is not mentioned, so this is just a simple giving. Therefore, even those who do not know the Torma rituals mixed with their own desires can recite the Sambhara (Tibetan: སམ་བྷ་ར་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: ) or Surupa (Tibetan: སུ་རུ་པ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: ), the great power, and the dharanis such as Obstacle Removal (Tibetan: འཇུར་གེགས་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: ) and the water offering of reciting the four names. Similarly, for the fallen, give body offerings, for the robbed mother and child, give food, for the Gandharvas, offer incense, etc., and the famous rituals in the scriptures such as offering to the gods, offering food, water offerings, the four hundred offerings, etc., are both offerings and giving to the guests.

For those who have already gathered, one should also strive to accumulate merit and virtuous Dharma. Because there is no sentient being who has not been our mother and father in past lives. Therefore, for them, protect those who are higher, befriend those who are in the middle, respect those who are lower, treat them as servants, resolve debt relationships, and purify blood feuds, etc., so that both inner and outer are harmonious, disasters are pacified, and wishes are fulfilled as desired. Therefore, one should strive in all aspects for these things. Similarly, for Dharma giving, one should add the actual teachings of the Pratimoksha Sutra, such as not doing any evil deeds. Fearless giving is also not impermissible. As Shantideva said: With a mixture of flower rain and fragrant water falling, seeing the fires of hell being extinguished with a crackling sound, suddenly feeling satisfied, wondering what this is. May all beings in hell see the lotus hand. Like this, great wisdom Bodhisattvas are skilled in accumulating virtuous Dharma, because with the difference of aspiration, it can be accomplished as such. As it is said in the vows of the Ratnagotravibhāga: The time for giving is eternal. Thus, the nature of offering can also be summarized as the path of the six perfections, which is the perfection of giving itself. As it is clear from the Ratnasambhava Sutra: At all times and places, it is the great place of giving. Also, saying that the intermediate state cannot receive food offerings is an obstacle to one's own and others' virtuous actions. The intermediate state with a physical form in the past, with all faculties complete, without obstruction, seen by the pure divine eye of the same kind, does not regress, that is a Gandharva. If this is not agreeable, then the name and meaning of the Gandharva attendant will also become false. In general, the Ratnakuta Sutra says: All dharmas are causes and conditions, abiding at the peak of aspiration. If there is no mindfulness, then it is a wonder to dedicate to the six realms of pitiable beings other than pretas. Fourth, listening: Not like a Pratyekabuddha who enters the path at will and is separated from benefiting others through its dependent origination, but one must rely on a virtuous friend to listen to the Dharma and proclaim what one has heard to others, just as those to be tamed in the first turning of the wheel are known as listeners or Shravakas. All the Dharma of the Great and Small Vehicles must be listened to by relying on a virtuous friend.
