Half of it goes deep into the key points. The fourth question is as follows: Are newly born sentient beings existent or nonexistent? If they exist, it contradicts the idea of cyclic existence having an end. If they don't exist, then the countless beings, with only a few attaining liberation, seems unreasonable. In response to this question, it is said: As far as the sky extends, so does the realm of sentient beings. Likewise, the compassion of the Buddhas extends. In all places pervaded by beings, karma, afflictions, and suffering also pervade, which is the nature of cyclic existence. Therefore, such debates are like a blind person searching for the edge of the sky. From the Guhyagarbha Tantra, the King of Tantras: Emaho! From the Tathagatagarbha, the various thoughts are emanated by karma, the diverse bodies and enjoyments, as well as places and sufferings, etc., are grasped as self and what belongs to self. No one is bound, there is no bondage, and there is nothing to be bound. By grasping thoughts as self, it is like forcefully tying a knot in the sky. There is no bondage, and therefore no liberation. Thus it is said, therefore, the realm of wisdom, corresponding with co-emergent ignorance, on the purity of obscuration and what obscures, the names of confusion and liberation are applied on their own manifestation. In general, the limits of the beginning and end of cyclic existence are difficult for even the tongues of the Buddhas to express. In the past, when someone asked Shakyamuni Buddha about the beginning and end of cyclic existence, the Buddha did not answer. However, the results of good and bad karma are not without benefit and harm. Through the power of accumulating the two accumulations, karma and afflictions gradually diminish, and when merged into emptiness, cyclic existence in its own manifestation will completely disappear. Therefore, if you want to understand these, do not say so much, release the thoughts of the past, present, and future, and rest in the state of clear light. I am certain without doubt about the disappearance of the beginning and end of cyclic existence. Thus it is said. Next is the fifth question: Are the Alaya consciousness and wisdom one or not one? If they are one, then a Buddha would become a sentient being. First, because the Alaya consciousness has a cause, if they are not one, then the statement that it is the basis of cyclic existence and nirvana is contradictory. Thus argued, in response to this, answer from both common and specific aspects. Some common views say this: The Alaya consciousness is the basis of all things, and also the basis of nirvana. Misunderstanding the expression "basis of nirvana", if one thinks that the Alaya consciousness is the Dharmakaya, then, the Dense Array Sutra says: The pure moon disc

Always immaculate and complete, Whatever it may be, due to the power of Dharma in the world, Perceiving the moon as waxing or waning. Likewise, the ultimate Alaya-vijnana, Always possessing the Tathagatagarbha. For that essence, by the name Alaya-vijnana, The Tathagata has taught. Those children who do not understand this, Due to the power of habits, the Alaya-vijnana also, Is seen as having various joys and sufferings, And is commonly seen as karma and afflictions. Its nature is pure and immaculate, Its qualities are like a wish-fulfilling jewel. Without change and without alteration, Thus, complete understanding leads to complete liberation. As it is said, therefore, in the manner of bondage and liberation, The place of the Alaya-vijnana changes, Because it is said to be wisdom itself, So, to consider the Alaya-vijnana as the Dharmakaya, Is ignorance that deviates from the path. The essence of the unsurpassed tantras, From the Great Perfection of Self-Nature, Thus, establish the order of replies: In the "Rigpa Rangshar Tantra", Some consider the Alaya-vijnana as the Dharmakaya. In order to explain the reply to this, The nature of the Alaya-vijnana is like this. Then, state the reply to that: Because it perfects all, it is the Alaya-vijnana. Then, refute with the words of a question: Is there a reason for the Buddha to change? Because the Alaya-vijnana holds various things, Because all are perfected from it, The realm of sentient beings is the Buddha itself. Why is it because it perfects all? Or will it become alternating? Thus, and so on, in the manner of refutation, ultimately, For those who hold onto the Alaya-vijnana's conceptual thoughts, It is deceived by various confused consciousnesses. The Alaya-vijnana is an object of ignorance. Thus, the ignorance of Alaya-vijnana and, The essence of awareness and wisdom, From within the differences, as substances that contradict each other, And after showing that it is not a one-time event, With the analogy of the ocean and the boatman, The meaning of what was said. Although there are many ways of explaining, It exhausts the boundaries of the ocean of tenets, Possessing the essence of scripture and reasoning. In the kingdom of Samantabhadra's intention, The omniscient one who wields power, The unparalleled one in the world, Longchen Rabjam thinks like this: The Dharmakaya is pure from the beginning, Having never had any defilements, The nature of the Dharmadhatu is like the ocean. When a firm foothold is gained there, It is the Buddha of twofold purity. The realm of Alaya-vijnana is like the sea, Like a merchant entering a boat, Mistaken from the initial Dharmadhatu
