After seven days from his mother's passing, he was reborn in the Trayastrimsa heaven. Immediately after birth, he was raised in the arms of his aunt, who was either Māyā's younger sister or later known as Mahāprajāpatī, who became the chief caretaker. He was nourished with milk, affection, and cleansing, attended by four groups of eight wet nurses, totaling thirty-two. Then, when he arrived at Kapilavastu, a large gathering of the Shakya clan convened. A certain fierce, arrogant, and deceitful Shakya, referred to the Bodhisattva as "Capable" (Thubpa). Because twelve sounds, such as chariot noises, constantly echoed in that city, causing fear, but as soon as the youth resided there, those unruly sounds gradually subsided, and he remained as if he were "Capable," he became known as "Shakya Capable." At that time, whatever boy or girl was born into the Shakya lineage, the Shakyas would worship a resident Yaksha named "Shakya Increase" (Shakya Phel) as a deity. When they began to pay homage to him, the Bodhisattva, as soon as he saw them approaching his residence, would come out to greet them and pay homage first, thus he was named "Supreme Among Gods." At that time, the Shakyas wondered whether the youth would become a Chakravartin or a Tathagata. The sage free from afflictions of Mount Kun-dzin, having examined and analyzed the marks, refuted the words of the Brahmins who had previously prophesied, and dispelled their doubts, saying: 'Those conceited rulers are foolish; a Chakravartin will not arise in an age of strife. This treasury of Dharma, the supreme merit, will surely conquer misdeeds and become a Buddha.' He also foresaw his renunciation, ascetic practices, enlightenment, and turning of the wheel of Dharma, etc. At that time, the sage, knowing that he would relinquish the activities that sustain life, with an expression of weariness, bowed and circumambulated the youth, then departed to his own abode. Later, when the youth was five years old, his hair was cut. At six, he kept a topknot. While he was living in his mother's lap, he once ate scorched rice served on a golden plate, which his mother could not prevent. Then, five hundred elephants were used to pull the container to snatch the food, but he drew the elephants back with his finger.
