From the six limbs, aspiration for the three perfections of generosity. To whomever, giving material things according to their wishes, to those seeking Dharma, explaining well, and to those in various fearful situations, providing protection. May I always practice these three kinds of generosity. Thus it is said. Among these, even within the category of material generosity, there are three types: giving, great giving, and exceedingly great giving. The first is to learn from small portions how to destroy miserliness, and to gradually increase it. That is, even when stinginess arises towards a handful of tsampa or a single thread, one should rebuke oneself: "You have been accustomed to stinginess in the past, so you were not born wealthy, and now you have come to crave leftovers like a hungry ghost, how pathetic! Leaving everything behind when you die and going empty-handed is like a fool pretending to be wise!" Thinking in this way, when stingy about giving a handful of grain, courageously give a mouthful, because conceptual thought is impermanent, so stinginess will gradually decrease. Undoubtedly, one will eventually be able to give away sons and daughters, and eventually learn to give away one's head and limbs as an exceedingly great giving. That is, by learning to destroy miserliness, the mind of generosity will become accustomed. If the mind of generosity becomes accustomed, then the perfection of generosity is complete. Similarly, if the Dharma giving that connects others' minds to the path of truth is meaningful, then one should endure all wrong views and fatigue. The temporary punishments of kings, and the fears of wild animals and thieves, etc., should also be regarded as auspicious signs, so the giving of fearless protection should also be highly valued. Eleventh, aspiration for the three perfections of discipline. Abandoning all non-virtuous actions, engaging in vast virtuous actions, and striving to accomplish these for the benefit of others, may I protect pure discipline. Among these, abandoning the ten non-virtuous actions is the basis of discipline, because it has immeasurable benefits. Therefore, householders should also accept it, as it is necessary for the leisure and endowments. In particular, in order to obtain a basis for higher rebirth, one should observe the eight-precept vows on the eighth, fifteenth, and thirtieth days of the month, as well as on the four great festivals, and so on. The actions to be abandoned are killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, and lying.

On top of abandoning the four root downfalls, not drinking alcohol, not engaging in dancing and wearing garlands, not sleeping on high and large beds, and not eating untimely meals, these are the eight (precepts of the eightfold noble vows). In particular, the permanent discipline that becomes the basis of qualities is: Bhikshu and Bhikshuni, Shramanera and Shramanerika, Shikshamana, Upasaka and Upasika, with the vows of these seven types of individual liberation, guarding one's own mindstream for as long as one lives, that is, guarding against misdeeds, is the actual teaching of discipline. Among them, from the aspect of intention, if one takes vows in order to be protected from the king's punishment and taxes, etc., this is to escape fear; like most people nowadays, taking vows for the sake of livelihood and peace is called "good wishes," and will not become a cause for liberation. However, when renunciation arises in the mindstream, the vows will transform and become a cause for liberation, so in every way, one should generate a mind of weariness towards the suffering of samsara. On top of that, among the two disciplines of a Bodhisattva, accumulating virtuous dharmas means accumulating from all aspects of the four objects of gathering and the six perfections. Corresponding to this, ransoming lives, circumambulating stupas and making offerings, water offerings, snatching, etc., making offerings and incense offerings to spirits, reciting the Hundred Syllable Mantra and other special dharanis and mantras, confessing transgressions, reciting the Seven Branch Prayer and the "Samantabhadra's Prayer," etc., and reciting scriptures and other ten practices of Dharma. If one is wealthy, such as a king, with a good intention not to harm sentient beings, building supports for body, speech, and mind (Buddha images, scriptures, stupas), repairing, building bridges and roads, prohibiting hunting animals and prohibiting fishing, etc., one should strive to do so. All of these should directly or indirectly be for the benefit of others, and grow through dedication, this is the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. Twelfth, aspiring to the three aspects of the perfection of patience: May I generate compassion for those who harm me, May I bravely endure hardships for the sake of the Dharma, May I not be afraid of the meaning of profound Dharma nature, May I have the power to cultivate great patience. Because there is no sin like hatred and anger, one should train in patience. Because the nature of sentient beings is very difficult to tame, when wealthy, they are jealous; when declining, they are contemptuous; when equal, they have thoughts of oppression.
