Initially, the Hearer Vehicle, through understanding that all of samsara is of the nature of suffering, enters the noble path of liberation—the Four Noble Truths. For their own benefit, they abandon the bonds of self-grasping on the aggregates, etc., and cultivate the absence of self of persons, thereby severing the continuity of samsara and actualizing the state of an Arhat. As it is said, from the Four Noble Truths, suffering is understood, origination is abandoned, cessation is actualized, and relying on the path, the root of self and absence of self is severed, and through cultivation, the result is actualized. Furthermore, continuing from the previous point, secondly, the Pratyekabuddha Vehicle, on top of realizing that the aggregates, etc., are without inherent existence, cultivates the twelve links of dependent origination in forward and reverse order, with external objects of apprehension, the gross phenomena of external objects, appearing like reflections in water without attachment. Afflictions are naturally liberated, thereby actualizing the state of a Pratyekabuddha. Both of these accomplish the training in higher discipline and the practice of concentration, thereby teaching both the Vinaya and Sutra Vehicles. As it is said, Pratyekabuddhas are of two types: those like rhinoceros horns and those who dwell in assemblies. Through the absence of self of apprehended phenomena, all external objects are cultivated as being without inherent existence. Through the absence of self of the apprehender, the emptiness of the apprehending consciousness, which is free from arising, ceasing, and abiding, is cultivated. The absence of self of both the apprehended and the apprehender is spoken of in their respective contexts, and the latter is the realization of the Great Vehicle. Thirdly, the Bodhisattva Vehicle, continuing from the previous point, realizes that all phenomena are without inherent existence, and with great compassion, engages in the vast activities of benefiting others. Its fundamental principle is the two truths. That is, phenomena that are certain to be unfailing in cause and effect, possess characteristics, and appear as objects of mental consciousness, are the conventional truth. In the commentary on the Uttaratantra, it is said: 'All truths of the path are conditioned; all conditioned things are conventional.' And, the wisdom that accords with emptiness, which is the nature of reality abiding in its own nature, and possesses the aspect of completely pacifying elaboration, is the ultimate truth. In the Two Truths, it is said: 'For that which is unborn and pacifies all elaboration, the term 'ultimate' is used.' As it is said, all phenomena are not hidden, and one is able to freely wield various samadhis.

Therefore, (it) is summarized as the Abhidhamma Pitaka. Some treatise examiners argue that the view of Dzogchen is the same as the view of Madhyamaka-Cittamatra, using empty words to refute it. Jiga, my friend, do not slander the pinnacle of the vehicle based on speculative distortions. The tenets of the four schools mentioned in the lower vehicles are also established in the great treatises of Dzogchen. Primarily, in this land of snow (Tibet), the other shore of self and other schools, like an ocean, has been reached. The collected works of the omniscient Longchen Rabjam, famous like the sun and moon, are the Three Rest Series: the root text is "Resting the Mind Itself," the commentary is the "Great Chariot Commentary"; the root text is "Resting in Meditation," the commentary is the "Pure Chariot Commentary"; the root text is "Resting in Illusion," the commentary is the "Excellent Chariot Commentary," and so on. The root texts, commentaries, and the Seven Treasures: "The Wish-Fulfilling Treasure," "The Treasure of Pith Instructions," "The Treasure of Tenets," "The Supreme Vehicle Treasure," "The Treasure of Words and Meanings or Clear Light," "The Treasure of Reality," "The Treasure of the Preciousness of Dharma Nature"—these seven. These can be understood through these, and the Kusulus can also examine them. First, the Shravaka Vehicle is divided into two: Vaibhashika and Sautrantika. The former believes that external appearances are real, and the latter believes that all external appearances are composed of subtle particles. The Mahayana Vehicle is divided into two: Cittamatra and Madhyamaka. The former is further divided into two: Cittamatra True Aspectarians and Cittamatra False Aspectarians. Regarding this, the sutras also say, "Yogis are also harmed by the higher and higher ones due to differences in intelligence." As it is said, the Cittamatra True Aspectarians accuse the Sautrantikas in this way: "It is unreasonable for you to believe that external appearances are composed of subtle particles, because even for an indivisible atom, if it is divided into four directions, eight corners, and two directions above and below, making ten parts, then that indivisible atom cannot be established." Having said this, they establish their own view in this way: they believe that all appearances are truly existent in the mind, and that all external appearances are not established outside of the mind's deluded appearances, just like the appearances in a dream. They acknowledge that appearances are real in the mind, but they have not severed the root of the mind. The Cittamatra False Aspectarians believe that external objects do not exist, and the grasping
